Maybe!: This could be a contact allergy, a folliculitis (infection around hair follicles), or puppp. Puppp is a pregnancy related condition where itchy red bumps start in the stretch marks. They can join to form larger itchy plaques. Puppp usually occurs around 35 weeks but can start earlier. Treatment is usually aimed at the symptoms. Moisturize: Itching near the end of pregnancy is very common. As your skin stretches to accommodate your little one you get stretch marks and itching. PUPPP: Pruritic and urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy - now you know why it's called the puppp rash. It's a skin change in pregnancy without an obvious cause, but felt to be related to pregnancy hormones. Topical, or sometime oral, steroids are used to alleviate symptoms. ...Read more

Hard to say: Being pregnant does not protect you from getting a skin rash and in fact makes you more likely to get strange skin rash. It is however not normal. If it is a raised welt which goes away after a few hours, then consider taking an antihistamine. There is no way to tell at this time whether this is from an allergic reaction or not unless you have noted such an association (food , pet etc) ...Read more

Rash: There are specific dermatoses related to pregnancy as well non-specific cutaneous eruptions (skin rashes). The most common pregnancy related rashes are PUPPP, Prurigo of Pregnancy, Papular Dermatitis of Pregnancy, Impetigo Herpetiformis and Pemphigoid Gestationis (most of these will occur later in pregnancy). A visit to a dermatologist may help to establish a diagnosis and proper treatment. ...Read more
