Time to time I get itchy rashes around my joints. I can go a year without it happening. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) helps it to go away. Any ideas what could cause this?

Rashes need exam for: diagnosis. Since it is not itchy or red and located just on the back, it does not sound like allergic reaction or viral exanthema. A common cause of papules on the back is miliaria, or heat rash, which is caused by blocked sweat pores. Rash not cat allergy: If it doesn't itch it's not an allergic rash. The other possibility is that the antihistamines are strong enough to suppress itching but not the rash. Try stopping the antihistamine. If the rash continues to appear and becomes itchy, then yes, it could be the cat. You will want to see a health care professional at that point. ...Read more
