Itchy Rash On Both Shins
Best to see doctor: Hard to say without more information to help pin down the cause, and even then, rashes can be tough to diagnose without seeing them! I think I'd recommend a visit to your doctor. In the meantime, for the itching cool compresses, or lotions containing calamine or pramoxine would be good over-the-counter anti-itch treatment. ...Read more
Possobly hives: If the itchy bumps go away in 24 hrs, and then come back; or they have an appearance of " moving around", they are probably hives. But there are a lot of skin rashes looking like itchy bumps, like bug bites.... Better to consult a dermatologist or allergist to make a diagnosis. ...Read more
I was bitten by blackflies on my shin and developed an itchy rash after 2 days. It's been 2 weeks & I have had headaches & a low fever. What now?
The bite of the black fly can cause itching & marked local swelling which may continue for weeks.
With heavy biting Black Fly Fever can occur with symptoms to include fever, headache, nausea & swollen lymph nodes. Secondary infection may occur. In Africa, Central & South America it can transmit a nematode that causes River Blindness. See your doctor. ...Read more

I have derm appt — but in mean time I have red bumpy ITCHY rash on part of lower right leg. It's now started on left. What could this be?!
Could be minor...: Dermatology is all about appearance. I am guessing it is an erythematous papule ("red bumpy"), which honestly could be an insect bite, or contact dermatitis, both of which are common. However, you mention pregnancy; there is a condition called PUPPP: Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy, which are terribly itchy red bumps! See what the dermatologist thinks! ...Read more
Can hydrocortizone 1% cream be applied for fading of non-itchy rash on leg which is pityriasis rosea herald patch, on skin for almost 2 months,?
Doubtful: Hydrocortisone is helpful for itchy or inflamed rashes. We believe that pityriasis is caused by a virus and not inflammatory. I would expect a herald patch to be accompanied by others by now. You should consider that this might be another cause such as eczema or lupus. I would recommend an examination. ...Read more
A red itchy rash on the inner side of my leg near the groin area for over 1 month. It decreases when I take anti biotics. I want a permanent solution?
Erythrasma: I assume you used actual antibiotics and not antifungals. You could have Erythrasma which is a bacterial infection that just like fungus affects areas of moist skin. The rash may have well-defined borders and may become brownish. Topical and sometimes oral antibiotics are necessary. Keeping the area dry is the way to prevent this. Check that you are in good health for example no diabetes ...Read more
I got bit by a horsefly that got infected, and I got given a penicillin type drug to help it however I've now got an itchy rash on leg. Is it linked?
You need to be: Seen by healthcare provider again to look at the pattern of the rash and skin infection to make sure it is improving on the penicillin type drug. Otherwise, you may need cultures and repeat blood work, or different antibiotic. There are lots of different things that cause rash, but if it was a fly and not a tick, then you should not get Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever or Lyme disease, to rule out. ...Read more

After I drink several glasses of red wine, my right calf swells up, my leg aches, and I get an itchy rash behind my knee. What's going on?
Reaction to sulfites: Is possible. Sometimes, more expensive red wines can contain sulfites. I don't know why your left calf will be spared though. Stick with cheap white wine. ...Read more
I am experiencing soreness or burning inside of mouth and itchy rash on my leg, I believe I may have gotten poison ivy on my leg and scratched it before noticing what it was and maybe I got it on my mouth. Anything I can do to help relieve my mouth?
Drug reaction?: Only thing I can think of affecting both the mouth and the skin would be a drug reaction. Was there a new drug introduced within 2 weeks prior to onset? I suspect that they are unrelated since poison ivy does not cause mouth problem unless you are chewing it. For sore mouth, try switching to Biotene toothpaste. For the skin, topical hydrocortisone. See allergist if not better. ...Read more

I am a male, 81 years old. I recently experienced clear discharges from both nipples, but mostly from the left. I am also experiencing burning, itchy rashes around both nipples, on my arms, and my shins. I am getting symptomatic relief from triamcinolo
Doctor can evaluate: A doctor will have to get more of the story about the nipples, and do an exam (one can start with his primary care doctor). Nipple rashes can be from friction (from shirts, sports equipment like swimming in an inner tube, etc...), eczema, cancer, etc... Nipple discharges can be from hormonal imbalances, which may be due to hormone-producing glands, liver disease, medications, etc... ...Read more

Can eczema turn into psoriasis? I have a patch of itchy skin on my shin diagnosed as eczema. My GP prescribed Verdeso 0.05% rash came back red & bumpy
No: In fact atopic eczema and psoriasis are nearly 180 degree opposite to each other in term of the immune reactions. Cortisone is a non-specific anti-inflammatory agent which however may help both conditions although better and safer alternatives may be required. The itchy rash on your chin is likely from a contact allergy with hair preparations being the most likely suspects. ...Read more
Itchy skin turns into fast spreading rash like bumps when scratched. Both arms and right leg. Do have allergies & asthma. Not on meds for allergies.
Happy to help.: There are a couple of possibilities. First, dermatographism is a condition where scratching or marking the skin causes hives. Second, hives can arise without scratching as well. Antihistamines like Zyrtec/Allegra can help. If this persists, I'd recommend seeing an allergist who can allergy test you and help determine if other conditions are present. ...Read more
Rashes: Most allergic rashes are itchy however, not all itchy rashes are allergic. A good example is scabies that is caused by an arthroppod (insect) that tunnels beneath the skin.
