From your description there may be an allergic reaction. I would advise letting your PCP know and a dose of over the counter children's anti histamine such as Claritin (loratadine) may be used. It may be related to the virus or an allergic trigger.

Different causes: There are different causes of this type of rash includung allergy to foods, medications, etc. Have a physician or dermatologist evaluate the rash if still present. In the meantime if you're uncomfortable you could take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for the itch but be aware that it can cause drowsiness. Many possibilities: Besides lyme, ticks can transmit many other infections including babesia, bartonella, ehrlichina, rickettsia and other types of borrelia.
