Diaper rash is an irritation of the skin caused by dampness, urine, or feces. Most babies who wear diapers will have some type of diaper rash. However, there are other skin disorders that can cause rashes. These are usually not serious unless ...Read more

I have a severe ear pain / ear ache on the right side plus a headache (or migraine) on the right side as well. My right eye is a bit watery &itchy too?

A little complex: Let's start with the ear pain, which might be a nervus intermedius neuralgia, but the focal issues could be a TMJ process. Eye problems of this sort can be associated with cluster headaches, but all of this does not fit neatly. Are you near a very experienced neurologist or otolaryngologist, as this needs to be evaluated and specified so we can fix it. ...Read more

My son has a itchy rash that is hotto the touch on his ccheeks ears neck back and tummy. It came on suddenly, what could it be?

M.D. visit: There are a number of possible causes of his rash. The sudden nature without other symptoms makes a reaction or contact with a triggering agent more likely. If there is associated fever, cold symptoms, then viral and other infectious causes may be the reason for his symptoms. His age and immunization status is important information to provide as well. I would suggest a visit with your physician. ...Read more

Perioral dermatitis: Perioral dermatitis vs Ezcema. Excema would be treated with moisturizer and topical steroids, for perioral dermatitis, these are not helpful and would worsen the condition. Sounds most like perioral dermatitis. Things to try: reduce products, they clog and worsen the condition. Regularly cleanse. Try to touch your face less often. If no better, see a Dermatologist, or a doctor with expertise. ...Read more

What can I do about a crusty, itchy rash(?) in my ear canal? I read somewhere that the bacteria inside the ear is different than outside on your body.

What can I do about a crusty, itchy rash(?) in my ear canal? I read somewhere that the bacteria inside the ear is different than outside on your body.

Dry skin: Like the rest of the body surface, the skin in the ear canals can get dry, crusty and intensely itchy. I often recommend putting a drop of vegetable oil into the canals about 2x/wk to moisturize the skin. I agree that an infection may also be possible but it would not respond to the application of oil in the ear canals. ...Read more

My 1 yr. Old has developed an itchy rash on his face...Cheeks, forhead, nose, behind and on the ears...Looks like red splotches. No fever, diarrhea..?

Allergy?: If he is acting ok no fever drinking eating etc it sounds like hives. They are typically blotches they might come and go affect different parts of the body etc. Think about new foods, possibly just changed to milk, think of new soaps detergents, fabric softness something new in 24 to 48 hours before the rash. If he starts not acting well, develops a fever, or no resolution in a few days see ur dr. ...Read more

My 2year old has a bad cold, that im giving Advil for fever and aches. But has an itchy rash, can I give Benadryl and Advil togethere?

Yes: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and Ibuprofen (advil/motrin) are fine to give together. Very different medications. Some Benadryl products come with the Diphenhydramine and Ibuprofen already combined, so make sure you don't have one of those products and end up double dosing the ibuprofen. Always read the "active ingredient" label on your over-the-counter medications. ...Read more
