Folliculitis?: Herpes typically presents as a cluster of vesicles (filled with clear fluid that eventually scab over). A first episode can be more extensive and sore, but thighs and belly button sounds more like folliculitis. Folliculitis is a bacterial infection of the follicles. See your dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment.

Fleas: Where are you when you get bit. It could be fleas or possibly bed bugs. If you are in your bed when this occurs try washing your bed clothes and treating your room for insects. Not everyone is allergic to fleas but if you are they could cause the symptoms you are describing.

Your Dermatologist: May be "clueless" but a PODIATRIST may not be! Sounds like one of your feet is getting irritated by your running shoe! This can be ONE FOOT ONLY!!!!!! Check it out with a good Podiatrist! Hope this helps! Dr Z

Here are some...: Have these pustules happened to the same location or uncertain? If same along long run, clearly they are pressure- or friction-related. If so, think about improving padding to that area or /and shortening running distance. Of course, having a podiatrist take a look is a reasonable thing to do.

See a specialist: Painful pustules that are painful need to be taken seriously. There are several diseases that can present with pustules. Actually, any rash that stays in one place for more than 24 hours needs to be addressed. See a dermatologist first, the sooner the better.

Sounds like Impetigo: This sounds like impetigo, a bacterial infection of the skin caused by staphylococcus aureus or streptococcus pyogenes. Have your doctor culture a lesion and inside your nose. If a culture is positive topical treatment and decolonization would be indicated.

Get a throat culture: There are lots of bacterial infections in the throat nowadays, not just strep, so I would recommend a throat culture and rapid strep test to get a positive ID on what is causing your infection. The doctor can also order a "sensitivity" with the culture to show what antibiotics the bacteria is sensitive to and which ones it is resistant to so that you get the proper antibiotic.

I'm 23 weeks pregnant with my fifth child. I have an itchy red rash on my buttocks. Red raised, no blisters or pustules. What should I do?

I'm 23 weeks pregnant with my fifth child. I have an itchy red rash on my buttocks. Red raised, no blisters or pustules. What should I do?

Try hydrocortisone: It the rash looks like an even red throughout then it is most likely in the eczema family and 2.5% Hydrocortisone cream should help. If the rash appears to be clearing in the middle then you may have a fungal infection so I would rub Lamisil (terbinafine) cream into rash with the hydrocortisone.

Why am I so itchy?

Why am I so itchy?

Atopic: Itching may occur in cold weather due to skin dryness. Another common cause is atopic diathesis causing itching & eczema and sometimes asthma or hay fever. Avoid scratching and friction, apply mineral oil based moisturizer after shower. Do not rub too hard with a towel, rather pat-dry only.

I have itchy balls.?

See below: Likely due to too much moisture. If there is no rash or ulcers, then practice good hygiene and wear breathable fabrics. If there are any abnormalities on the skin, have it looked at by your doctor - it could be an infection.

Itchiness: There are many ways to manage itchiness, from topical creams to oral medications. The best way to manage itchiness (pruritis) is to treat the actual cause. I recommend seeing your doctor to establish a likely treatable diagnosis.
