Itchy red pustules on scalp after going to hair salon 6 yrs ago. Now all over body except face. Allergy or follicultis. Allergy meds & prednisone no help?
Hello, I need help to differentiate a skin allergy or infection from herpes. I have itchy pustules with red base on the thighs and belly button?
Folliculitis?: Herpes typically presents as a cluster of vesicles (filled with clear fluid that eventually scab over). A first episode can be more extensive and sore, but thighs and belly button sounds more like folliculitis. Folliculitis is a bacterial infection of the follicles. See your dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment.
I keep getting bit at night on legs. Ranges from small n itchy to large swollen hard hot itchy painful with pustule. What could it be? Help! Age 21
Fleas: Where are you when you get bit. It could be fleas or possibly bed bugs. If you are in your bed when this occurs try washing your bed clothes and treating your room for insects. Not everyone is allergic to fleas but if you are they could cause the symptoms you are describing.See 2 more doctor answers
I get tiny pustules, not itchy, painless, on one foot only after my long runs for the past year. I am a regular runner. Dermatolgist clueless.
Got bit.1st looked like a flea bite then got itchy & bright red. It formed a pustule &now has spread & bigger- it has a white ring around it-what is it?
Staph infection: You have a very serious bacterial infection called MRSA. Please go see your physician urgently. This can be very serious.
I get tiny pustules (1 to 4), not itchy, painless, on sole of one foot only, occasionaly after my long runs for the past year. I am a regular runner.
Here are some...: Have these pustules happened to the same location or uncertain? If same along long run, clearly they are pressure- or friction-related. If so, think about improving padding to that area or /and shortening running distance. Of course, having a podiatrist take a look is a reasonable thing to do.
Itchy bites on legs. Red surrounding area, perfectly round pustule in the center. Doesn't really hurt but is firm when I push on the red area. Warm.

Red, itchy rash on thigh-2 months. 2 different prescribed steroids failed. Now it's painful w/pustules. Thoughts?
See a specialist: Painful pustules that are painful need to be taken seriously. There are several diseases that can present with pustules. Actually, any rash that stays in one place for more than 24 hours needs to be addressed. See a dermatologist first, the sooner the better.See 2 more doctor answers

Rash starts with white pustule, evolves into itchy cigarette burn style rash. Had it for years on back and legs?
Sounds like Impetigo: This sounds like impetigo, a bacterial infection of the skin caused by staphylococcus aureus or streptococcus pyogenes. Have your doctor culture a lesion and inside your nose. If a culture is positive topical treatment and decolonization would be indicated.See 1 more doctor answer
Have a question, I have a serious itch, and red pustules around the grooming area! That itches when it gets dry! I try to us gold bond and other powders but it's very uncomfortable and it's like acne but itchy....?

Throat swollen, huge nodes and pustules all over. Was very itchy before I broke out.? Staph. I am a carrier and have grown out some strange cultures.
Get a throat culture: There are lots of bacterial infections in the throat nowadays, not just strep, so I would recommend a throat culture and rapid strep test to get a positive ID on what is causing your infection. The doctor can also order a "sensitivity" with the culture to show what antibiotics the bacteria is sensitive to and which ones it is resistant to so that you get the proper antibiotic.See 1 more doctor answer

Sore/ itchy rash: May be eczema, psoriasis which could respond to steroids but may need stronger treatment if diffuse, folliculitis for which mupirocin topical and bactrim oral if not allergic would help, or autoimmune process. Or food intolerence- gluten, milk. Would follow up with dermatologistSee 1 more doctor answer
I'm 23 weeks pregnant with my fifth child. I have an itchy red rash on my buttocks. Red raised, no blisters or pustules. What should I do?
Try hydrocortisone: It the rash looks like an even red throughout then it is most likely in the eczema family and 2.5% Hydrocortisone cream should help. If the rash appears to be clearing in the middle then you may have a fungal infection so I would rub Lamisil (terbinafine) cream into rash with the hydrocortisone.
Itchiness: There are many ways to manage itchiness, from topical creams to oral medications. The best way to manage itchiness (pruritis) is to treat the actual cause. I recommend seeing your doctor to establish a likely treatable diagnosis.
