Folliculitis?: Herpes typically presents as a cluster of vesicles (filled with clear fluid that eventually scab over). A first episode can be more extensive and sore, but thighs and belly button sounds more like folliculitis. Folliculitis is a bacterial infection of the follicles. Get a throat culture: There are lots of bacterial infections in the throat nowadays, not just strep, so I would recommend a throat culture and rapid strep test to get a positive ID on what is causing your infection. The doctor can also order a "sensitivity" with the culture to show what antibiotics the bacteria is sensitive to and which ones it is resistant to so that you get the proper antibiotic. ...Read more

Try hydrocortisone: It the rash looks like an even red throughout then it is most likely in the eczema family and 2.5% Hydrocortisone cream should help. If the rash appears to be clearing in the middle then you may have a fungal infection so i would rub Lamisil cream into rash with the hydrocortisone. ...Read more
