Ck your post op meds: If you have palmer rash from post-op, and were placed on antibiotics, or other meds, you must consider if this could be a possibility or not. In either case, contact your foot doctor, or surgeon, and let her/him know about it, so they can advise you further. This is best done in person. You don't want this getting out of hand, and compromising your health. ...Read more

Keloid: Depending on the size excision of the area may be possible. There is still a chance of the keloid coming back but if you treat the area early with steroid and silicone or pressure garment this is reduced. Steroid injections can help shrink the area some but usually do help with any itching and burning. ...Read more

Had laparoscopic surgery few weeks back incision is starting to heal form crust but one of them is very itchy what should I do? I am afraid to scratch

Likely normal: Patients frequently complain of itching of incision sites during the healing process. This is normal as long as you don't have redness or drainage from the wound. It should go away over time. You're right not to scratch it as during the early healing process scratching and abrasion to the wound could lead to infection by introducing bacteria into a fresh wound ...Read more

I've had lichen sclerosis for 26 years and am having surgery for VIN2 in 10 days. I am so itchy. It is driving me crazy. Any suggestions for the itch?

Presurgery: The medication typically used for lichen sclerosis is called Clobetasol. This is a steroid cream that works great BUT since you are about to have surgery this is not a good medication as it will impair your healing. There is an over the counter all natural product called Prevaleaf Soothe available on Amazon that should help until you are healed. I recommend this to many lichen patients ...Read more

I have a reaction to steri strips for my Achilles rupture surgery 2 weeks ago. What can I put on the hives? Itchy and painful, don't want to scratch.

See your surgeon: Achilles' tendon repair incisions can be 'tricky' as the tendon is nearly subcutaneous. Any non- healing wounds here or incisional 'rashes' should be seen by your surgeon promptly to avoid skin/ wound breakdown. In my experience the reaction to the steri-strips is usually a reaction to the benzoin used to keep the strips' sticky'and not the strips themselves. See your surgeon! Best of Luck! ...Read more
