Itchy Palm Superstition
My 21 month old has itchy palms at night. What may be the cause and how do I treat it. She seems miserable at night. Thank YOU!
In addition to the: oral antihistamines (Benadryl) at night and topical 1% hydrocortisone cream, you can also try Aquaphor (more of an ointment) and if she'll keep them on, cotton gloves over that. My both palms are itchy for the last few days. I never had allergies nor i used or ate any thing other than usual. Please help!?
Medication?: An allergic reaction to a medication will often be the cause of itching of the palms and/or soles. If there are no new medications, then i would try to control the symptom by using a non-sedating anti-histamine such as claritin, (loratadine) Allegra or zyrtec. Yesterday, i had itchy palms and skin and the situation got worst at night! i was not even able to sleep the previous day.Any advice?
Itchy palms: I'd suggest to avoid scrubbing or washing with soaps for the time being - they could irritate and dry out the skin more. Try some eucerin cream or if no improvement, a very mild Hydrocortisone cream. Try to think if you've had any new irritants to your hands -scented lotions or perfumes, gloves, washing them more often... And try to avoid any triggers. ...Read more

Possible allergy: Itching of the palms and soles may be some sort of allergic reaction to something internal or external. Take notice to see when it happens. Do you get this reaction on exposure to heat or cold for example? In the meantime try taking an antihistamine as needed. Inflammation: Hard to say what the problem is, but you may have a fungal infection of the hands, you may have a medication reaction and you may have other problems.
