Eczema: The key to treat your eczema is to treat the dryness. You need to apply a thick moisturizer, such as vaseline and try covering the affected skin by wrapping it with gauze overnight.

There's been a small (non-itchy) bump on my left thigh for a few months. It's not discolored...I'm worried it could be a growth. Worth checking out?

Doctor can evaluate: A small non-itchy bump can be a wart, a flesh-colored mole, a molluscum, a scar, etc... If a person is otherwise young and healthy, the bump is unlikely to be a serious problem, but a primary care or dermatology doctor can evaluate and offer treatment.

Tricky: Dermatologic conditions are hard to discuss without seeing them. And a bite with spreading inflammation or a bite with serious spreading INFECTION, even lyme are possible with a circular rash. cannot say in your particular case.

Hello, I've noticed a extremely itchy patch of tiny bumps on my upper left thigh but don't know what could've caused it or what it could be?

Steroid: Try to put a steroid cream OTC. If it gets better it's most likely allergy related. If it gets worse it's most likely fungal. Then apply an antifungal cream OTC. If not better you will need to see a Dr. For allergy related symptoms you can take an Allegra or Zyrtec OTC.

Shingles: I wonder if you are experiencing the early stage of shingles. Probably best to see your doctor because treatment is more effective if started early.

PMLE: This sounds like polymorphous light eruption, which is a reaction to intense sunlight. However, it usually breaks out within hours not weeks. You should consult dermatology for definitive diagnosis.

Bruise: It is difficult to ascertain the nature of this rash just by description obviously, but it sounds to me as if you have what is called a "purpuric" rash along with scattered petechiae. There are many causes of this type of rash, but if they are occurring spontaneously then I would seek the care of a medical provider promptly for further evaluation.

Itchy bumps on my thigh, what could they be? Some turned into black bruises. Started about a week ago on my left thigh, now on my right and shoulder too.

Dermatitis: Sounds like you have a dermatitis (not otherwise specified) and an exam would define it more specifically. Most dermatitis like, itchy skin eruptions can be treated with a topical steroid and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) as an antihistamine (which can also help with the itch). If severe, then get derm eval. Best wishes.

Diaper rash: If your baby wears diapers with an elastic band, she may have a latex allergy. Without seeing a picture olof the rash however, one can only speculate.

BIOPSY: Dermatology is, in large part, a visual diagnosis. That being said, anytime I am worried, or you, the patient, is worried, I biopsy the lesion. The exception is when the lesion is so easily diagnosed, which happens many times, a biopsy is not called for. Talk to your doctor. Sincerely, Dr. Latva
