I have a very itchy head and its not head lice. I have not changed shampoo and do not use any hair products. Hair also thin above ears. What cause?

Is it a cold?: Sounds like you may have a cold or allergies how long has headache been bothering you? Any other symptoms? What allergens outside could make me suddenly itchy-mostly on my face, head, & ears? I have not made changes to any products I use. I am in CA.
Contact allergy: If this occurs only on area above the neck, I would suspect a contact allergens used on the face and scalp. Hair products would be on my number 1 list. In contact allergy, the skin does not start to rash until 24-72 hrs after the application. Seborrhea? Eczema?: If she had cradle cap as an infant and has had episodes of dry skin and/or dandruff, she may have Seborrheic Dermatitis (unknown etiology), it may tend to worsen and improve spontaneously. Another likely possibility is Eczema or Atopic Dermatits, which may flare up with weather change, stress, use of harsh shampoos, soaps or detergents. I wear large ear plugs every night to bed. 33 decibels. My ears are itchy everyday. Should I be concerned! And long term effects with wearing?
There are some risks: associated with prolonged ear plug use including suboptimal draining of ear wax. This may lead to ear wax impaction with associated tinnitus or ringing in the ears.
