Itchy Head And Face
Itching in the scalp can be triggered by a variety of causes. The most common is seborrheic dermatitis, an inflammation of the scalp producing redness and flaking. Psoriasis can involve the scalp in a similar pattern. Stress can manifest as scalp itching, especially on the back of the scalp. Try a dandruff shampoo and scalpicin (hydrocortisone lotion) ...Read more
I get annoying itchy spots on the head and face and top of chest. I'm male, 64 and on medication for depression/anxiety. Otherwise feel good.
Contact Dermatitis: For itchy rashes, (not due to poison ivy or chicken pox) that occur in a localized area, consider a contact dermatitis. Go fragrance free in shampoos, soaps and laundry detergents and see if that helps. Use soap like unscented Dove and detergents for sensitive skin. Avoid fabric softeners too: one more chemical that can be a possible problem. If no help with that, see doc.
Have it looked at.: There are many types and causes of skin rashes. Several types of inflammatory conditions of the skin, allergic reactions, and sometimes bacterial, viral or fungal infections can cause rashes on the skin. Insect bites can also be the cause of a rash on the skin. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.
Seborrheic Dermatiti: Most likely you have seborrheic dermatitis. This is ususally treated with tar shampoos or shampoos with antifungal properties. Otc blue selsun type shampoos help this. Denorex type shampoos help. Sometimes steroid foams may be needed in difficult cases. If severe or can't control, see your pcp for a prescription formulaiton or see dermatologist. Don't be a flake, get treated!See 1 more doctor answer
Is having an itchy head common after a getting head hit Someone threw a small ball at me and days later felt itchy.
I've had a really itchy head going on for 3 years but seems to be getting worse, checked & treated head for headline numerous times, clear each time?
See dermatologist: There can be a variety of conditions such as psoriasis that may benefit from treatment. However a diagnosis must first be established.
Dermatitis.: There are many causes for what you describe. You should have this looked at by a physician who can treat you with the appropriat.
Hard to say: Candida and pinworms both can cause itchy anus (Pruitis Ani), but there are a number of other infections and dermatologic conditions that may be responsible. There is no way to tell from such limited information if all your symptoms are related to one disease (probably not.) You need to see a physician for an examination or consider an online consultation at Health Tap
Really itchy head all time past 5 days and my neck and little bit of back has red itchy little lumps on it that flair up in shower?
See a dermatologist: Seborrhea, contact dermatitis to anything used on scalp especially hair color can cause these symptoms. So can head lice. They particularly like the back of scalp and the neck. Their bites are very itchy and we often see small red crusted nodules on upper neck just below hairline.
I'm not 100% clear?: On what it is that you would like to know, but I think you are concerned that your itching and back pain are potentially related to hypothyroidism. That is a legitimate concern if your hair is especially thin and brittle, if you have very dry skin, and if your depressive symptoms have worsened despite medication. Consitpation, fatigue and weight gain are also symptoms. Ask UR Doc about testing.
I have a really itchy head I don't have lice I use dandruff shampoo for dandruff why is this it's really annoying me as I've tried lots of shampoos?
See a dermatologist: You have tried all of the usual simple solutions to this. Get an exam and find out if there is any other specific process in place and find how to deal with it.
I have a very itchy head and its not head lice. I have not changed shampoo and do not use any hair products. Hair also thin above ears. What cause?
Left eye & left nostril very itchy. Head pain on same side. Sinus pain and pressure on left side also. Nostril consistently draining clear water like?
Sounds like sinus: Problem but occasionally migraines can act this way. You are pregnant and on steroids (for?) so you could be susceptible to certain types of infections. You can safely use saline nasal spray and a mild decongestant nasal spray if needed, inhale warmed humidified air (put towel over your head over sink), but see doc if you get any rash in your facial area, a fever, or drainage yellow/green.
Dry Skin around both eyes and itchy eye corner. Also very itchy head scalp only at the back of head. Started month or two back. Taking allergy medicine (antihistamine) no help. Pl advice.
Skin, eyes, head: If antihistamine is not of help to you must, as soon as possible, see your primary doctor to help you get rid of symptoms. Your doctor might want to send you to a specialist. Please let me know what develops.
Lots of possibilitie: There are many possible reasons for your symptoms. The ones that you will need to be aggressive about and treat are lice or scabies. These are both infestations that feed off your blood and can be spread to others by physical contact. Lice in the scalp can often be seen moving on the hair shafts and nits are seen attached to the hair itself. Scabies has burrows often on the fingers and genitals.
