Help. Just broke out in rash of 3 itchy raised bumps under sportsbra over collarbone. Bug bite? Shingles? (had one outbreak on back in 2003)
Itching raised rash: Localized itchy rashes suggest a local effect - exposure to the skin by an irritant or allergen, or insect bites. A metal clasp on a bra strap can cause a contact dermatitis. Poison oak or ivy, or other allergens possible. Shingles expands from an initial patch to a larger area of rash that does not cross over the midline, and is painful/sensitive. Topical steroids unless shingles (acyclovir helps). ...Read more
Many possibilities: If the rash is localized to that area, it is most likely an allergic or irritant reaction to something that came in contact with your skin. But without seeing it, we can't be more specific than that. ...Read more
I have an itchy, painful rash on my collarbone, extending up both sides of my neck. Ent doc n reg doc doesn't know why I have it. What could cause it?
Hard to say: From the short description, it is hard to say. But, the location and the presence of itching suggests a contact dermatitis--an immune reaction to something that is touching your skin. This can be due to the metals in necklaces, detergents or starch in your shirt collar, or a number of different things. See an allergist or a dermatologist for a better evaluation. ...Read more

Itchy rash on my right collarbone, burns strongly if scratched. Other side of neck very sore and stiff, extending into back of skull and down shoulderblade, becoming difficult to use left arm.

Lymph glands: Generalized enlargement of lymph nodes are seen in infectious mononucleosis, malignant blood dyscrasias and other infections. I'm not sure that they would be found on the rib cage itself or on the shin bone. I recommend an evaluation by a hematologist or an infectious disease specialist. A lymph node biopsy as well as other tests may be advised by the specialist. ...Read more

Plant juice, maybe: There are several things that could cause such a rash, especially if the rash is only on one side, not both sides. Shingles is a possibility. I'd expect clusters of small blisters to develop in that case. A contact rash from a plant or chemical, either alone or combined with sun exposure could cause this. Even bacterial infections, like impetigo or fungal infections, like ringworm, are possible. ...Read more
My neck/collar bone is very itchy but no rash or scaly skin. I do not wear jewelry or change soaps. Nothing seems to help (lotion, cortisone cream)?
Have you worn any: New, especially unwashed, clothing? Have you switched from cotton clothing to wool? Any new foods, medications, change in your environment? It does sound like you are reacting to something. If you haven't already tried one of the non-sedating oral antihistamines, such as fexofenadine or loratidine, you may want to try one. The skin around the base of my throat/collar bone it really itchy and nothing seems to help. There's no rash or redness (other than from me scratching)?
Necklace Sensitivity: Very commonly the area of the neck is irritated by clothing or jewelry. In the case of costume jewelry, some individuals are allergic to a component of the metal such as nickel. If the chain, pendant or a suspended ring contains the metal it will cause itching and then a possible rash if ongoing exposure. Some types of fabric often do this as well with perspiration activating the reaction. ...Read more
