Itchy At Site Where Blood Was Drawn
Got blood test a month ago in three different places on arm. Started getting small red pimple at the site where blood was drawn. Doesnt hurt or itch. ?
I had blood drawn 4 days ago, very painful after and minor pain into today red purple mark where blood was drawn and the entire area is lightlybruised?
Normal: This can occur on occasion even with the best experts at drawing blood. The artery was pierced and leaked blood into the surrounding tissue. The bruise represents that the blood is most likely done leaking and it will now age and disappear. The only complication is infection and that would be increasing redness and pain with fever. ...Read more
Blood drawn yesterday. I woke up this morning with my arm swollen/sore about 2 inches above where blood was drawn. No bruising. Is this normal?
I had blood drawn and when the needle was inside my vein in the arm I cloud see some blood leaking from the needle entry point, is this normal?
Common: Needle entry for blood drawing depends upon the surrounding tissue to seal off the blood flow so it only goes into the needle. Unfortunately this is imperfect and frequently there will be leakage into the adjacent tissue. This is usually a tiny amount, and harmless although it might leave a short term tissue stain until your body absorbs the blood. ...Read more

Tooth #20 filled 3 days ago. Injection site at back of jaw has "very" sharp pain like the needle is still there & 2 red dots where injection was.
Possible infection: Go see your md or the facility where the blood drawn. Because of possibility that an infection is in communication with the vein, it should be evaluated and treated. ...Read more
I donated blood three days ago. The area just above the point where the needle was inserted, is red and swollen. It is also sore. Is this normal?
Should be OK but...: If it is particularly tender to touch or if there is a discharge from the site, a local infection may have occurred. Other potential causes may be a mild phlebitis from a small clot developing in the vein that was accessed. If this doesn't resolve for you in a week, I would have it evaluated by your physician. ...Read more

Blood draw from rt a/c and tb test below it. 5 days later red dots around antecubital area and pimple next to red but neg tb test. Normal? Coincidence
2 seperate: Most probable cause is you had some minor localized reaction to the blood draw (possible contact dermatitis if you had a bandaide on the area or tape, etc.) and the TB test below the site of the same arm, would not have anything to do with the injection site of the blood draw. Best wishes. ...Read more
Saw blood draw where site was touched with unwashed finger and then not sterilized with alcohol swab. If new needle was used, is patient at high risk?
Not high risk.: I'm bothered by the fact that good sterile technique was not employed in this blood draw, it seems, and the chance that some bacteria came along for the ride with the needle exists. That being said, I'd think the chance of actual blood borne infection is small, in the absence of some immunosuppressing condition, with one such blood draw. ...Read more
Had blood work done today and nurse had a little trouble finding the vein couple hours later I have a small bump under the skin at the needle site.
Hematoma: Once a blood vessel is punctured by a needle a small leak can cause blood to accumulate resulting in a hematoma. If the hematoma is small it will eventually be cleared by one's own body. If the lesion is larger , it may require surgical attention. ...Read more
Why might blood drawn for a blood draw be bright cherry red? All 3 of my kids drawn this wkend. 2 usual dark red, 1 bright cherry red-usually blackish
Hard to tell: No diagnosis can be made just on the basis of the looks of blood itself. Usually venous blood is darker than arterial as it contains less oxygen, but your kids had venous and not arterial blood drawn. If there was accidental arterial penetration, then cherry colored, bright red blood could be obtained, but that should have been reported if occurred. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
