Decrease salt intake: This may be due to fluid and salt intake...Both of which you have the ability to directly modify. Sounds like you have a touch of congestive heart failure as well. Given your age, diet and lifestyle modification are the best things you can do (i.e. If you smoke, then quit). I would also try to avoid taking too many medications, since they all have unwanted side effects.See 2 more doctor answers
Get diagnosed: It could be from "being on your feet". But there are a number of things that can cause swelling in the ankle. This is a very nonspecific symptom. I recommend that someone swelling in this area should be seen by orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon for a definitive diagnosis so that appropriate treatment can be started. You can find one in your area at www. Aofas. Org.
I've had very painful swollen ankles for about 4 yrs now the more I'm on my feet the worse they become, it is really limiting what I can do.
See Doctor: I agree with others-persistent ankle pain and swelling need evaluation. If you have not had an injury and not of an age to have degenerative arthritic changes you may need a more systemic evaluation. Primary care physician may be place to start with xrays, blood work and a complete physical exam. If appropriate referral to orthopedic specialist I am sure would be made.See 2 more doctor answers

Skin reaction: Many patients can have a skin reaction after getting bitten. Mild swelling, redness and itchiness are somewhat initial normal responses. Occasionally, some patients will have worse reactions due to an allergic response. If you are concerned you should have an exam done with the correct diagnosis and treatment plan!See 1 more doctor answer

Sluggish return.: There is a whole host of conditions that can cause the swelling of the lower extremity. Typically the vascular system is involved, including the venous return. The lymph vessels might also be responsible. To remove all doubt, have your leg evaluated by a vascular specialist. You can certainly begin by consulting with a family practitioner first and then be referred to a specialist.
