I've had itching inside my stomach for years-it got a little better for a year-2 but has gotten worse again. Possible cause and especially treatments?
Some thoughts.: there are several possibilites. cannot say in your particular case, but generally, odd symptoms in that area occur in up to ONE in THREE adults on any given day (Mayo Clinic Textbook). You'd think it would be psychological but proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole work in 90%, fake drug 25%. Hiatal hernia, motility, reflux is theorized as cause. ...Read more

Rash or abdominal?: Usually when something "itches" that implies the skin, but i gather here you are talking about internally. There can be itching to surround the belly button itself because of rashes, but if it is internal, then it could be from a variety of causes. Itching: This is a nonspecific symptom that may simply be due to mild irritability of superficial nerves in the left side of your abdominal wall especially since there is no associated rash or pain. I doubt that it has a serious cause unless you develop widespread itchiness without associated rash. Few clues, but: Tiny and not so tiny bug bites are one (of who knows how many) possible cause. Outdoors, chiggers would be my guess in this season in the midwest. Indoors, fleas from a pet or bedbugs are possible. Let a doctor see it - it could also be an allergic rash and it may be treated with anti-histamines in either case. Good luck! ...Read more
