Usually, good..: Since 1990 I have performed over 4000 laparoscopic cholecystectomies, as well as another 100+ open cholecystectomies. The vast majority of our patients are outpatient, going home about 2 hrs after surgery. Most are back to "normal" within a week, with no dietary restrictions. Relax: Gb surgery is extremely common and very safe. Most patients go home the same day and do extremely well. You will naturally have pain the first few days but you will have medication for that and it will rapidly improve over the first week.
