SOAK: You should soak that TOE (FOOT) in plain WATER for the rest of the day and into the night for as long as you are awake...the thorn contains many organisms and you must be watchful for infection (continued pain/fever) In addition you need a TETNUS update! SO a visit to your PCP (Primary Care Provider) is indicated!) Good luck Hope this helps ...Read more

Blood flow: It may be from many reasons, but if you do have arterial blockage of blood flow to the legs, then the toes will not be getting enough blood flow and that intense pain is them telling you they are starving for oxygen, nutrients, and blood. Have checked,: Especially if it continues to stay a purplish color. This could be a number of things, from simple skin irritation to an infection to vascular issues. Did it get excessively cold at any time, frostbite? Just be sure as necrosis can set in quickly. Sorry i cannot help more without seeing it, but my safest recommendation would be to have it looked at. ...Read more

Ouch!: I sympathize deeply with your son - fire ants are diabolical critters, and their bites burn like fire, as their name suggests. It does not surprise me at all that he is still uncomfortable after a week; it may be another week or two before it's all over. Feet heal particularly slowly because he is walking on them. A washcloth soaked in cool water and applied 2-3 times a day will help somewhat. ...Read more
