It Feels Like I Have Liquid In My Ear When I Yawn Or Hold My Nose And Blow What Is That
Pressure change: The middle ear is a closed space, except for a "pop-off valve" called the eustachian tube. The maneuvers you describe can force the eustachian tube open leading to some small pressure changes in the middle ear. This may be the sound you are hearing. You might also have some actual fluid in the middle ear. A quick ear exam can help differentiate. ...Read more
Yawning is opening the mouth semi-voluntarily while taking a long, deep breath of air. It is a type of reflex action controlled by the brain (a person cannot yawn on command). Yawning is normal, and usually due to drowsiness or tiredness. However, excessive yawning that happens much more often than normal may be caused by vagus nerve signals, due ...Read more
Recently, when I move, yawn or use my nose, my right ear gets stuffed and it gets hard for me to get it unstuffed. Also, I feel air locked in my ear. ?
Eustachian tube: The eustachian tube opens with yawn or swallow and contracting palate. When the eustachian tube is swollen due to sinus congestion, allergies, virus', pressure changes or with cerumen (wax) impaction in ear canal, stuffy sensation can occur. This is treated with nasal steroid spray, decongestant and gentle autoinsufflation of ears (pinch nose and blow). See physician with persistent symptoms. ...Read more
Sore throat. Runny nose stuffy at night. Ear feels like their is liquid in it and everytime i swalllow it hurts my ear.
These symptoms: Without a fever may or may not prove infection. Pressure in sinuses and ears can cause pain. There is congestion as proven by the ear and the pain on swallowing may just be irritation of the throat and the nerve. You will need decongestant/antihistamine and perhaps a nasal spray but your doctor should decide whether you need antibiotics or not. Go get examined and find out. Good luck. ...Read more

I was dropping Debrox into my ear to loosen ear wax and yellow liquid immediately came out of my nose. Is this normal?
It seems that the debrox solution is leaking from your external ear canal into your middle ear, at which point it is draining through your nose (see image). This suggests that you have a perforation of your ear drum, or your "tympanic membrane" and that's how the debrox is leaking through. I suggest you have a doctor take a look in your ear canal to confirm if here is a perforation. ...Read more

Plugged ears: This is often from congestion in the nose often from a cold or allergies. If it is from a cold, one may try an OTC nasal decongestant spray for up to 5 days (and no more). If from allergies, one may try an OTC nasal spray for as long as you need. If problem persists, see doctor. ...Read more

Ventillation problem: You are having a dysfunction of your eustachian tube, the tube from the middle ear to the back of the throat. This tube allows equalization of the pressure in the middle ear and drains fluid and mucous. You may have allergies or a viral infeciton. If this has been going on for some time, see your pcp, allergist or ENT doctor. Further evaluation may be needed. ...Read more

I am getting over brutal cold.On completion of a huge yawn, my left ear suddenly clogged up & can't hear.Already plugged nose&mouth&blew. Suggestions?
Sinus rinse: I would recommend that you rinse your sinuses with something like the neil med sinus rinse kit. The issue with the hearing is likely related to some of your secretions getting into your eustatian tube(it runs from your middle ear to the back of your throat) and middle ear . That should get better with time you could also use decongestants to help (psuedoephedrine). ...Read more

Many ways: The eustachian tube connects the very back of your nose to the middle ear. This tube is generally collapsed shut at rest and must be opened to allow the pressure to equalize in the ear. The tensor tympani muscle passes around the opening of this tube and when contracted helps to keep it open. You can do this by swallowing, yawning, chewing gum, or attempting to blow out your nose while swallowi. ...Read more
Hi.I blew my nose too hard and I my ear got blocked. I almost felt like I had a stroke because I found things moving.
Blow more gently.: The best way to get rid of this is to blow your nose and get it out. Sometimes your nose can be swollen from the flu, so nasal decongestants and cough medicine may be needed. Allergies can cause this, like hay-fever in the spring and summer, so a Benadryl (diphenhydramine) might help. All these things help depending on why your nose is stuffed. ...Read more
Just did neti pot for first time, my ear is feeling weird and making squeaky noises when blowing my nose. Normal?
Eustachian tube: When using a nedi-pot, the warm solution goes into the back of the nose. It is very possible that the solution may have gone into the eustachian tube and settled in the middle ear space. This should resolve without any treatment. However, if it does not resolve in 2 weeks, see an ENT doctor for diagnosis and management. ...Read more
My ears painfully needed to pop while flying. After landing, I blew my nose and I heard a high pitch noise as my ear popped. What was it?

Eustachian tube :
The eustachian tube is a small tube-like canal which connects the inner part of the ear called middle ear to the back of the nose and upper throat. Its function is to equalize the air pressure within the middle ear and the pressure outside it.
You likely have swelling in the eustachian tube. Try taking sudafed or a similar decongestant. ...Read more

Allergies.: That sounds like allergies. Nasal congestion, runny nose, cough, headache, facial pains and earache can be triggered by fragrances, dust mites, grass, trees, pets, environmental molds and such. There are outdoor and indoor allergens. OTC nasal steroid and nasal saline are worth a try. Ear drops won't get to the root of the issue. ...Read more

Hi when when I press on my pinna it hurts on inner ear the pain stated when I was in the shower and I blew my nose and I got a severe pain in my ear ?
Get checked!: Severe ear pain is not normal. You could have an infection. Pain to touch often means an infection of the external canal, but not always. Treatment is needed. Remember put no Q-tips, bobby pains, paper clips etc The only thing that you should put in your ear is your elbow or a piano! (An old and honorable and trusty medical truism.) Don't blow your nose hard for now. ...Read more
