More commonly known as accutane, Isotretinoin is an oral medication that is incredibly effective for severe acne. It is especially useful to bring a halt to acne that is causing scarring. Isotretinoin has a variety of side effects including birth defects, liver damage, and problems with cholesterol, and careful monitoring is required during treatment.

Probably not: Smoking itself my exacerbate acne by effecting the microcirculation in the skin, and smoking also increases skin dryness. Accutane itself can cause problems with excessive skin dryness, particularly on the face and lips, and smoking may make this worse. There is no evidence of any particular interactions between Accutane and smoking, however. There are many reasons to stop smoking - please try. ...Read more

Look at skin.: Accutane is potentially a very dangerous chemical. It is highly teratogenic and is stored in body fat so even after you stop taking it it remains in your body for some time.
