Zoloft 100mg helped anxiety but not depression, Effexor (venlafaxine) 150mg helped depression but not anxiety. Is there a medication that will help both?
Both can help: Both meds can treat anxiety and depression. My suggestion is to work with your prescriber to try a higher dose of either med to see if one can treat both. Although, generally not recommended I have combined these two meds for the reason you stated. I sometimes find doses of Effexor (venlafaxine) above 150mg cause more anxiety. An alternative idea might be to add buproprion to Zoloft adjusting each. ...Read more
What can I do if I take Zoloft is good for my depression not good for anxiety Cymbalta (duloxetine) good fo anxiety not depression? I tried lots of medication
Zoloft 100mg helped anxiety, Effexor (venlafaxine) 150mg helped depression. Is there a medication that will do both? With minimal sexual side effects?
Mood TX risk/benefit: There are a couple of antidepressants that might help: a new one is Brintellix which has a good side effect profile with little sexual dysfunction reported. Older ones include Remeron and Wellbutrin. Remeron can be added to other treatments. Zoloft and Effexor (venlafaxine) ought not to be taken together due to a risk of a serotonin syndrome...which is life-threatening! ...Read more
I was prescribed Zoloft (sertraline) for my anxiety and depression. And. That pill didn't help at all. What other medications can I talk to my dr about taking ins.
Many choices: If this is your first try at mood maintenance meds, you have many good medicines for a next try: lexapro, celexa, cymbalta (duloxetine). Be sure to give each medicine a decent try - at leat a month. If you have an intolerance, hang in there and give the medicine a full month to "percolate" in your system. Be careful, though, this whole group has a possibility of sexual side effects (decreased libido or climax). ...Read more
28yo fem w/ depression, anxiety. Zoloft for ~10 yrs, 50mg then 75. Added welbutrin. Zoloft quit helping, tried lexapro (escitalopram). Big weight gain. Rec new drug?
Antidepressants best: Another antidepressant, possibly snri like Effexor (venlafaxine) may be more helpful at this time. Add ons such as gaba- calm and natural anxiety aids can help. They do cause weight gain usually. Therapy is always an important treatment modality for depression and anxiety, don't think it is not helpful! ...Read more
Which is a better anti depressant drug to treat panic attacks, anxiety and depression. Lexapro (escitalopram) or zoloft?
Both Potentially: Lexapro (escitalopram) and zoloft are similar medications and have both been shown to be helpful for panic, anxiety, and depression. There is probably a decreased percentage of side effects with lexapro (escitalopram), (escitalopram) so it might be preferable for that reason. However, plenty of people do well with either medicine, and I have had some patients do well with zoloft after not getting benefit with lexapro (escitalopram). ...Read more

If Zoloft (sertraline) is helping reduce my pain, does this suggest my pain is caused by my anxiety/depression?
Not necessarily: Zoloft (sertraline) is an SSRI type of drug. This class of medications, though primarily used & indicated for treating depressive mood disorders & related psychiatric phenomenon, also has analgesic properties. PLEASE-Don't misinterpret what I say by thinking you can use Zoloft (sertraline) like aspirin or hydrocodone...YOU CAN'T but over the long haul these medications can alter pain reception & this is independent of mood ...Read more
I've started taking Zoloft (sertraline) for my anxiety and depression 5 days ago. Can I have a few drinks just one night every weekend?
I have been off of 25mg Zoloft (sertraline) for 19 days. Is it ok to have a few beers? The Zoloft (sertraline) was for anxiety not depression.
Talk over w ur doc:
There were probably good reasons why your doctor started you on medication directed towards anxiety.
If a 16 year old is taking up to 7 drinks/week as you, indicated, that might be a signal that there are continued anxiety or other emotional issues. Why don't you take the time to talk it over with your doctor. ...Read more
Why did my dr perscribe wellbutrin and zoloft for depression and anxiety. How do they work together? Is there much success rate with this combo?
These two medications have different mechanisms of action and could have an additive effect without additive side effects. You should have posed the question to your doctor.
Exercise is a good treatment for depression. It is not easy getting started, but it is more than worth it.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.

How long time does "zoloft 50 mg " need to make an effect on the patient if he have anxiety+mild depression?
Zoloft (sertraline): Like most antidepressants, zoloft (sertraline) requires at least 4-6 weeks to show effectiveness. You may need a higher dose than the 50mg you're now taking. Doctors usually titrate the dose gradually, allowing your body to become accustomed to it. Please work with your doctor to obtain symptom relief. Psychotherapy is also an important part of treating anxiety and depression. ...Read more
I take Zoloft (sertraline) for depression/anxiety and I still have bad anxiety which is also a side effect. What can I do to help ease the anxiety?
On 75mg Zoloft (sertraline) (started at 25 mg) for 4 weeks, . 5 mg (twice a day) clonazapam for 2 weeks, no improvement to anxiety and depression, stick with it?
Maybe?: If I were your dr, I would certainly increase the zoloft (sertraline), (sertraline) but don't increase it on your own! Some need higher doses. I would increase it until, 1. You're better. 2. You have side effects or 3. You get to 200 mgs per day. Also, zoloft (sertraline) is better absorbed, up to 50% better with food. I usually give zoloft (sertraline) to be taken in the morning after breakfast. Sometimes, clonazapam can make depression worse. ...Read more

Get therapy also: Are you being prescribed these medications by your primary care physician, or a psychiatrist? Medications are only part of treating depression/anxiety, and psychotherapy is essential. Some psychiatrists do both, but more often people work concurrently with a psychologist or other therapist. If you haven't already, you might see a psychiatrist -- could be more helpful, esp in complex cases. ...Read more

While this is possible, it must be done with great care or you will be at risk of serotonin syndrome, a very serious condition- see http://www. Mayoclinic. Org/diseases-conditions/serotonin-syndrome/basics/definition/con-20028946
Thus, DO NOT TRY THIS ON YOUR OWN!

Slowly decreasing off zoloft (sertraline) for anxiety. Can a withdrawal symptom be depression? Tired and very unmotivated lately.
Zoloft (sertraline) Dose: I hope that your physician is supervising your Zoloft (sertraline) dose reduction because if you have been on it for any length of time, the titration to zero needs to be medically supervised so that you do not experience serotonin syndrome. Also, was any thought given to what antidepressant will replace the Zoloft (sertraline) once you are completely off of it? It sounds like you need an alternative antidepressant. ...Read more

Had bad panic/anxiety disorder with limited depression. Been on Zoloft (sertraline) for two 1/2 months. Anxiety minimized but depression raised. Normal?
Yes that is expected: As anxiety starts to regulate and the patient feels better, a good percentage of patients (more than 50%) experience some depressive symptoms in the form of decreased interest, energy and motivation and decreased ability to enjoy. We have been observing that in our anxiety center. It is not clear why. Treatment and adjustment of meds correct that and the person regain normal mood. ...Read more
My anxiety and depression get worse 7d before period starts. My counselor asks me to take 25mg Zoloft (sertraline) only once 7d before period. Is that normal?
No: This is not an approved use of Zoloft (sertraline) and other than increasing the expense of your treatment has no evidentiary value for the treatment of PMDD. The dose and use is too little for any effectiveness outside of placebo. Unless you are taking this medicine daily in a therapeutic dose I would not expect a positive outcome. ...Read more
