I wonder if the: Zoloft (sertraline) is being used for anxiety as i see that listed under conditions. That might make more sense then adding in zoloft (sertraline) for depression. There is often concern that antidepressants could raise risk for mania/ hypomania. ...Read more

Zoloft (sertraline) for anxiety: has been shown to be effective in teens, adults and older kids. It is used for both social anxiety disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. It may take a couple of weeks before the full effect is experienced. 12.5 mg is a common starting dose. A : A combination of cognitive behavioral therapy and anti depressants is an effective treatment strategy. There are other anti depressants with a different mechanism of action that could be tried- eg: tricyclic anti depressants (nortriptyline), mirtazapine, MAO inhibitors. The treatment could also be augmented with medications in the class of Abilify (aripiprazole) , seroquel etc. If nothing else works , electroconvulsive therapy is a safe and effective treatment option. Please talk to your psychiatrist and hope you get well soon. ...Read more

I'm taking redotex for lose weith, and Zoloft (sertraline) 50mg for depression, is this safe?

Maybe not: redotex? Is there a generic name? Is this an over the counter weight loss pill? If so, it's effects usually only limited and temporary, and it's not safety tested/regulated by proper authorities, likely. Possible interaction with Zoloft (sertraline) or any medication. Change your lifestyle instead. Eat healthier and move more, and you can then also get off the Zoloft (sertraline), possibly. Good luck. ...Read more

Can i safely take 400mgs of zoloft (sertraline). I'm currently taking 200 - 300 mgs daily. My depression varies and today its bad?

Please don't up your: Dose dependent on how you feel one day. It takes quite a while for serotonin levels to increase - so upping your dose for a day will not make symptoms better. 400 mg of zoloft (sertraline) is well above the recommended dosage. You need to discuss this with your psychiatrist/ physician. See that you drink socially - that is definitely contraindicated if you take zoloft (sertraline). ...Read more
