No!: Quinapril can cause birth defects. Please tell your doctor if you are planning a pregnancy so that you can switch to another medication. None of the ace inhibitors are safe in pregnancy (many of them end in "-pril"). Depends on which one: Hydrochlorothiazide, triamterene, & Amiloride do not cause birth defects per some studies. Older studies raised concerns that thiazide diuretics might cause thrombocytopenia, but subsequent studies have shown that there is no decrease in platelets. NO: No no no! perindopril and other ace inhibitors are teratogenic and can cause the baby to die in utero or be born with severe malformations (no kidneys). Please do not take this if you are or are planning on becoming pregnant. Probably: There does not seem to be adequate literature to assess the risk of Fluconazole exposure from breastmilk on infants so caution is advised. However, Fluconazole is a drug given to neonates to treat candida. When measuring the amount of the drug excreted in breastmilk it has been found to be less than the prescribed neonatal dose so it is probably safe.
