This is not a reason to start drinking wine if you don't drink alcohol. Excessive alcohol consumption certainly has risks that outweigh the benefits. Probably ok: Drinking 1 glass of wine or beer is generally OK for a woman and up to 2 glasses of wine or beer is usually ok for a man. But there are always exceptions to this rule such as if you have liver problems or are taking some medications (like seizure medications) which can be affected by alcohol use and decrease their efficacy. Seems ok: Red wine in moderate amounts like a glass a day is tolerated by one with normal liver function. If you're really concerned have your physician order a battery of liver function tests. You are averaging 3 glasses a day. ...Read more
