Your doctor may also suggest a safe exercise plan. Walking is usually the easiest type of exercise, but swimming or other low-impact exercises can work just as well. Exercise is an important way to keep blood sugar in control, and physical activity in pregnancy has been found to decrease the risk ...Read more

Is walking on the treadmill considered cardio? I usually run for about 15-20 min nonstop on treadmill. Curious if walking does any good.

Depends...: Walking is better than sitting, but if you are already running, then it would be less beneficial than continuing to run in your case. You could add walking at brisk pace between your runs--more is better in terms of activity.

Can walking on the treadmill on an incline at a high speed just as good as running?

It can be: Depends on what your goal are. If it is to burn calories and stay fit: yes. Bear in mild that a treadmill does not exactly duplicate running on ground and an incline puts more stree on your ankles and muscle in back of legs.

Is walking, jogging and running on treadmill good for scoliosis?

Is walking, jogging and running on treadmill good for scoliosis?

Won't hurt scoliosis: And all three are great aerobic exercises, but do not really strengthen core musculature. Scoliosis is often idiopathic, i.e., no known cause, but it is often seen in lean, very flexible individuals. Central muscles like abdominal and back help support spine and posture.

Which type of walking reduce body fat fast? Slow walking to 1hr or speed walking to1/2hr (eg; 3.0 speed at treadmill to 1hr or 5.4 speed to 1/2hr)

Which type of walking reduce body fat fast? Slow walking to 1hr or speed walking to1/2hr (eg; 3.0 speed at treadmill to 1hr or 5.4 speed to 1/2hr)

Weight loss: It is not about the type of walking but rather the calories burned. Using your example you will have walked 3 miles in one hour slow walking and 2.7 miles in a 1/2 hour fast walking. Because you went farther slow walking you would have burned more calories and therefore, lost more weight from the longer walk.

I'm having an IUI done tomorrow morning. Would it be good or bad to walk on my treadmill for 1 hr (heartrate @ 140) the night b4 & night of procedure?

I'm having an IUI done tomorrow morning. Would it be good or bad to walk on my treadmill for 1 hr (heartrate @ 140) the night b4 & night of procedure?

Likely no: That exercise certainly won't help you become pregnant. I would recommend against that the night of your iui. The night before is likely ok. In general exercise is good and certainly safe in pregnancy. But around treatment I would recommend more relaxation.

I was walking on my treadmill at 3.0mph 0% incline and it said my heart rate was 130 is this a good thing or bad?

I was walking on my treadmill at 3.0mph 0% incline and it said my heart rate was 130 is this a good thing or bad?

See below: It sounds like your deconditioned. That's a fairly average speed for light running or fast walking and no incline. However, as long as you're able to do it without severe shortness of breath, chest pain, or dizziness, then it's fine. After some time of training like this, your heart rate won't jump that high. If you have any symptoms or other conditions, check with your doctor first though.

First: First you need to be congratulated on your amazing accomplishment. My first bit of advise is that you should definitely meet with a nutritionist to come up with a workable long term plan. Eating 1 meal a day sets you up for weight regain, because your metabolic rate has likely been turned down greatly. As far as your attempts at "spot" training in the gym with goals of weight loss in one specific area of your body, this simply is a myth that doesn't work. Don't be discouraged, no human body is able to lose weight in one specific area. This is usually an "all or none" phenomenon. As you lose fat, it will disappear everywhere, but at genetically predetermined rate. This is why for some people the issue I love handles vs. Thighs vs. Belly fat. Most important thing you should do is accept the new lifestyle you have chosen and make sure you eat at least 3 to 4 normal sized healthier meals a day. This will minimize your chance of weight regain.

Have torn meniscus was advised but trainer at health club that I could walk on treadmill if I raised the incline to. 5. Not good to walk on flat tread?

Torn meniscus: With any meniscal tear, avoiding activities which increase pressure on the knee (and can possibly increase the amount of meniscal tearing) such as kneeling, squatting, crawling, crouching, pivoting, running, jumping. Is helpful. Walking on the flat or with a small incline is typically okay..

Did you wait 10 min.: If you waited you may be in great shape and but rate is too high if waited, I would see a cardiologist to be sure no cardiac defect

Does trademill help loose fat from all over the body? How many miles should I run/walk each day? I am controlling my diet too..

Does trademill help loose fat from all over the body? How many miles should I run/walk each day? I am controlling my diet too..

Yes. About 3 miles.: Helpful weight loss diets have natural foods that take time to chew but contain few calories. Examples include carrots, celery, and iceberg lettuce (little/no salad dressing). When shopping for fruits, buy small ones no bigger than a tennis ball, because fruits have sugar. Drinks without calories include water and green tea. A calorie is a calorie, but surely avoid sugar & simple starch calories.
