10mth constant mod/severe flank/side/abdo pain. Urine sterile-pyuria/blood/protein. Seen nephrologist & urologist & gynaecologist- no diagnosis. Help?
Endometriosis?: Endometriosis can cause pain in the abdomen and pelvis. It seems that you likely had a thorough work up if you saw both a urologist and a nephrologist. Without a physical exam and your complete history it's difficult to diagnose, but pain syndromes should be considered. Maybe get a 2nd opinion from another gynecologist?See 1 more doctor answer
Had an uti and treated it.1 day after treatment i went to do an urine test.rbc were present 10-15pf but urine sterile. What.could this mean ?really
Normal: RBC's will stay present for up to a week. It's the normal part of a UTI.
Yes. Good question: Urine is sterile, however bacteria are liable to travel up a female urethra, which is short, from within labia & area around urethral meatus (opening). Regular or frequent urination empies bladder of urine & unattached bacteria. This prevents utis in many women. However, bacteria have time to multiply & attach to bladder lining & cause UTI when subject holds urinating. Specially true after sex.

Mostly water.: Urine is 95% water. The remaining constituents, in order of decreasing concentration are: urea, chloride, sodium, potassium, creatinine, & other dissolved ions, inorganic and organic compounds. The kidneys make the urine, first by filtering the blood, then by adding waste products and extracting essential compounds.
Water ,waste, salts: Urine is made from blood filtering through the kidneys.Waste which are several chemicals generated from what you eat are eliminated , also excesss water and salts such as sodium and pottassium are also regulated.Acid base balance is also one of the many functionsof the kidney acheived from making urine.See 1 more doctor answer
Irritation, fullness: Urinary urgency occurs whenever there is irritation of the bladder or the urethra (that drains the bladder), or if the bladder is spastic, either because of muscular spasm, full bladder that may not empty completely, or nervous damage. The most common cause in a woman your age is urinary tract infection, while in older women they may simply have bladder spasms. See your doctor for a urine test
Filtered in kidneys: Through the filtering units called glomeruli. The water passes through the thin capillaries out into the filtering space in the kidneys' filtering units. The water carries with it the waste chemicals and passes through tiny tubules the collect together making bigger ones and finally exit the kidney as a large one called the ureter that ends in the bladder that stores the urine till voiding occurs.
