Can someone with a heart murmur take a Xanax (alprazolam) and a sleeping pill?

Can someone with a heart murmur take a Xanax (alprazolam) and a sleeping pill?

Yes: Unless you're dying with end-stage congestive heart failure (hopefully not), the murmur is not an issue. However, Xanax (alprazolam) and sleeping pills have additive sedative effects (with respiratory depression) and should not be used together, just as alcohol should also be avoided with their use.

Hi. What is the weakest sleeping pills that I can use every night for a short period without seeing a doctor? Is Alprazolam 0.5 good?

Hi. What is the weakest sleeping pills that I can use every night for a short period without seeing a doctor? Is Alprazolam 0.5 good?

It depends: I would shy away from alprazolam for a multitude of reasons. Herbal and even homeopathic remedies can be helpful. Melatonin 3 mg is safe and without an Rx in US. Antihistamines like diphenhydramine are commonly used and safe for short periods.

Insomnia in teens: First we need to find out what is causing the sleep disturbance in the teen. It's better to discuss with his pediatrician about the sleep issue and safe sleeping aid. Keep meds prescribed for adults away from the teen.

I wanted to know is bromazepam a sleeping pill?

I wanted to know is bromazepam a sleeping pill?

In a way: Anything that is sedating may be used as a sleeping pill. This medication is similar to other benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Ativan, Klonopin, (clonazepam) Restoril). It primarily reduces the time to sleep onset by 4 -10 min. Prolongs the first two stages of sleep which does not result in prolonged total sleep time ~ 60 min longer. Reduces deep sleep and REM sleep thus not improving restorative sleep.

Which drink is the best to mix with sleeping pill?

Which drink is the best to mix with sleeping pill?

Alcohol drink? None: It can be potentially lethal to combine alcohol with sedating sleep aids. Together these substances reduces activity of the nervous system and lead to respiratory depression and eventually the breathing drive ceases during sleep. The synergistic (or multiplier) effect of the combination makes it unpredictable and inherently very dangerous.

What sleeping pill is stronger than zopiclone? It's not having the same effect anymore

Trazodone: When my patients become tolerant of their sleeping pills and they stopped working for them my first choice as a go to medication is trazodone. I typically prescribed it in the 50 mg tablets and tell the patient to take one to three at bedtime. Since it is somewhat unpredictable in terms of the dose I tell the patients to start low and go slow and gradually increase the dose until they are sleeping through the night without feeling hung over the next day. At that point I tell them to take it no higher. This should be an adequate solution to your dilemma. Please discuss with your physician. Best wishes.
