Is there anything I can take I am on tramadol and Prescription ran out? Its Friday after 5pm is there an over the counter or other NSAID Available.
Very allergic to morphine, vicodin, and NSAIDs. Is tramadol an ok drug for me or am I likely to have allergic reaction?
What is 'allergy'?: Morphine and hydrocodone cause a great deal of histamine release, which results in itching, hives, nausea and other GI symptoms, and NSAIDs can cause a great deal of stomach irritation. Neither of these are really allergies, which requires that the immune system be involved in the problem. Tramadol is chemically unrelated to either of these classes of drugs, but also can cause histamine release. ...Read more

I had a fairly severe allergic reaction to morphine. I am also allergic to vicodin, codeine, and nsaids. Is tramadol/ultram safe? I have read conflicting things.
True allergic: Reaction to meds presents with itching, hives, chest pain, shortness of breath and choking sensation. If u had nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea etc, these are side effects to the drug and not an allergic reaction. Tramadol should be fine if u were allergic to the other drugs. Allergic to morphine, vicodin, codeine, nsaids. Chronically ill, looking for pain relief. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is useless. Tramadol ok? Other suggestions?
Painful situation: You have a difficult problem which is not uncommon. You need a concerned physician to review the reactions and what alternatives are available for treatment. Ideally you could see an allergist and a pain specialist to resolve this issue. Also I would be looking into alternative methods of controlling pain such as stress reduction meditation and even possibly acupuncture. ...Read more

Just had tibial ORIF, I want something less sedating than norco, (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) tramadol did not touch the pain. What would be in between. Can't take NSAID's.
All opiates sedating: This is a tough one. You could try half a norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) combined with a tylenol and see if that works. Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) has some tylenol in it so make sure you do not exceed 3000mg of acetaminophen daily. Another option might by tylenol with codeine. I hope you get some relief soon. ...Read more

I took imitrex (sumatriptan) for migraine-my internist told me today it was OK for me. I have nsaid sulfa ultram allergies with severe reactions seizure, Stevens Joh?
Imitrex (sumatriptan) and Sulfa: Hello. Your doc wouldn't prescribe this if they they had grave concerns. It is interesting how medis, which contain sulfa are tolerated by patients with sulfa allergies. Example Can't take sulfa based antibiotic but can take Celebrex (celecoxib) (sulfa based) without any issues. A "few molecules" separates each sulfa family (class) so the cross-reactivity between sulfa classes is is lower than expected. ...Read more
