Babies who are only moderately premature usually ...Read more
Late, usually: Usually a sign of late infection, i.e. overt AIDS, usually several years after catching HIV. It can occur in early HIV, but usually does not. In either recent or longstanding HPV, thrush is never the only symptom. Also, most coated tongue and other white patches in the mouth are not thrush. See a doctor if you have symptoms you are concerned about. ...Read more
If sore throat was HIV sign would it ever be by itself or always be accompanied by a fever&rash? Also have slight cough/no thrush/no fever/no rash.?
A sore throat by itself is not a a sign of hiv. If you are concerned you were exposed to HIV you should get tested. Testing can be done anonymously at many state health departments so if you are worried better to be tested and find out.
The signs of HIV may not always be easy for you to tell without testing for the virus. ...Read more
No specific time: There are varying degrees of immune dysfunction with HIV and there are varying levels of exposure to agents that cause opportunistic infections (i.e. infections that occur when one's immune system is not functioning normally). These variable factors will contribute to the time it takes to develop thrush. ...Read more
Whoa: Seroconversion is defined to include a positive blood test for hiv. Please forgive me if I misunderstood. I see that you do have multiple sclerosis, and I am wondering if you have developed thrush / candida and believe that you have acquired HIV despite a negative lab test. If you are seriously concerned, see if your physician can order up a pcr assay. ...Read more
I was diagnosed with thrush today and saw HIV might be the cause should I worry about this or get tested for it?
Can you get OHL and thrush at the same time? I have the symptoms, does that mean I have HIV? I'm scared!
Listen buddy: If you have to ask, it's time to get tested for HIV. Every guy your age and older should probably get a quick HIV screen yearly. I'm betting, though, that the white stuff on your tongue is crud that will come off with a swipe of a piece of taut dental floss. If it hurts and/or just won't come off, get seen. Love safely, keep avoiding IV drugs, and get with your physician for an answer. ...Read more
Is a negative HIV test 3.5-4 months after possible exposure accurate? During the 3 months time I also had oral thrush, wasn't sure if it was unrelated
Oral thrush 8 weeks after potential HIV exposure, 4 weeks after PEP. Will test in 4 days. Should I prepare for HIV+ result because of the oral thrush?
Oral thrush 14th day after possible HIV exposure. Is it ARS symptom? P24 Combo on13th day; index value 0.1& nonreactive. No other symptoms. How reliable?
Varies: People with HIV/AIDS have a higher risk of developing skin conditions because the virus affects the body's ability to fight off infections. Thrush is an infection of the mouth caused by the candida albicans fungus. This happens more often in people with cancer, HIV or other conditions that weaken the immune system. The weaker the immunity, the more severe the infection. ...Read more
If HIV caused someones oral thrush, how soon of an infection of HIV would cause it? 1 year? 2 year?
Thrush in an HIV infected human would represent immune function damage. Now a days in our modern world, thirty years into the HIV epidemic all people with HIV in the world are encouraged to be on treatment to suppress the viral infection and to prevent immune function damage. Thus, there is not an automatic transition to getting thrush anymore.
If one has thrush this does not mean they are HIV +. ...Read more

Antifungal agent: Antibiotic and steroid both promote fungal overgrowth, all the more so in the presence of diabetes. You need an antifungal agent (topical or oral) to eradicate it. If the problem persists despite treatment and you are concerned over the possibility of HIV, by all means get tested. ...Read more
Oral thrush w/ no hiv/aids, no medications, no diabetes, nothing unusual. I am worried b/c everything I read says that highly unusual for adult thrush?
A-z (fever, thrush, l nodes)hiv symptoms but 7 mon HIV negative. What is reliable? Why? I have five antibody tests all negative in 7 mon duration.
Do hiv antibodies ever disappear? I had a possible exposure 14 years ago, hiv test was negative, but I'm having thrush etc. Should I get t-cells check
Never disappear: No, HIV antibodies never disappear. Your negative test is valid no matter how long after the last exposure. Despite what you can find on line, recurrent or persistent yeast infections (thrush) almost never are evidence of HIV, especially vaginal yeast infections. There is no point in having T cell or any other test; T cell testing is never useful if an HIV test negative -- also an urban myth. ...Read more

Hiv infection is caused by a retrovirus....This retrovirus binds to CD4 cells (for the most part). You may detect the virus by several different methods. An elisa test (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay). You may also detect it by doing a test referred to as a western blot (a gel protein electrophoresis).
