How does sodium, caffeine, and alcohol affect calcium levels in the body?

How does sodium, caffeine, and alcohol affect calcium levels in the body?

Likewise, alcohol doesn't have much of an effect on it or there'd be calcium problems All The Time. sodium, however, has an exchange with calcium. If the sodium load is high, the calcium control is somewhat messed up. Some diuretics (not caffeine or alcohol though) put sodium in the urine and push calcium back in. ...Read more

Wait for your doctor: It is very admirable that you have made so many excellent lifestyle changes, all of which I'm sure will benefit you in the long run. But you should not adjust your medications without discussing it with your personal doctor first. By working together, your doctor can keep track of the changes so if anything goes wrong, he or she will be able to better pinpoint if it was your med change or other. ...Read more

Does drinking alcohol affect your fertility? How long before you try to concieve should you stop drinking caffeine and alcohol I plan on ttc in july

Moderation: First, you don't have to stop drinking caffeine as there's no harm for moderate caffeine consumption in pregnancy. 200mg a day is without any risks. As far as alcohol. A drink or two a week while trying to conceive likely won't affect your fertility, but if you want to be 100% safe, then abstain as soon as you are not using birth control. ...Read more

I have benign pvc's. I supplement w/ potassium, mangesium, don't drink caffeine or alcohol. Still get them. Anything else I should be doing?

Benign PVCs: As long as you are asymptomatic during these PVC episodes and the P V Cs are not in sustained runs, no further actions needed. Supplements over the counter generally don't help this condition. It is a good idea to see a cardiologist for a cardiac work up at least once to rule out any cardiac pathology. Continue to cut back on alcohol and caffeine. Stay on a healthy diet and a 20 min cardio exerc ...Read more

Elevated tsh, normal t4, no hypothyroid symptoms. Have recently quit caffeine / significantly reduced alcohol (in case it's adrenal fatigue). Is this likely to lower tsh? How long to see results?

Elevated tsh, normal t4, no hypothyroid symptoms. Have recently quit caffeine / significantly reduced alcohol (in case it's adrenal fatigue). Is this likely to lower tsh? How long to see results?

No: By definition, elevated TSH is hypothyroidism. T4 is not the active one, rather it is T3 and it is ft3 that is in fact the active hormone. T4 is converted to T3 in the periphery. I would have you check the T3 level and you may need synthroid (thyroxine) as well. Neither alcohol or caffeine has anything to do with the synthesis of TSH but alcohol is converted by body into energy ATP via acetyl coe-a. ...Read more

Why heart so irritated? Very frequent pvc/pacs 5-10/min over couple weeks. Stress echo, EKG considered normal. Messing up sleep. No caffeine, alcohol

Proven, or felt?: Twitching of the intercostal muscles (muscles between the ribs)can feel like an irregular heart beat;if early beats (PACs or PVCs) were not seen on EKG or heart monitor, then a 24hour Holter monitor should record any that occur (mark down times)& look for signs of many beats in a row (SVT = supraventricular tachycardia). Decongestants, electrolytes, thyroid or lung disease can cause, sometimes all OK. ...Read more

Most times when I nap or sleep too long I get a headache. Why does this happen? I don't drink alcohol. Caffeine in moderation.

Most times when I nap or sleep too long I get a headache. Why does this happen? I don't drink alcohol. Caffeine in moderation.

Check for OSA: Headache after sleep is a common question we ask when screening for sleep apnea. So talk to your doctor about that. Sometimes too much sleep can trigger migraines. This may be because there is a dramatic reduction of stress hormones with good sleep, which is good unless you are addicted to your own adrenalin. In that case you have withdrawal symptoms similar to caffeine withdrawal. ...Read more

Day 4 heart skipping and palpitation stress test came back good and im not dehydrated what could be wrong? No alcohol, caffeine or drugs. On monitor

Hard to say: You say you're on a monitor. I am assuming the results are not back yet. If the skip beats and palpitations occur while you are on the monitor then a record is made and your cardiologist should be able to get a better idea of what is going on. Many have ways for you to mark when you have symptoms, too. An electrophysiologist (heart rhythm specialist) should be able to help. ...Read more
