Is There Anyway To Get Rid Of Prednisone Moonface After Treatment
Prednisone is a synthetic cortisone. The body makes cortisone, a natural hormone made in adrenal glands. The body converts it to Hydrocortisone to become active. 25 mg of cortisone has about same effect as 5 mgm prednisone. The average person would produce 3-6 mg of pred daily. So why use a substitute? The synthetic has more anti-inflammatory effect; but has less effect ...Read more
Diagnosed with M.G. by hosp. specialist by symptoms and Tensilon. Neg. EMG and bloods. Responded to Mestinon (pyridostigmine) and Prednisone. Can't get treatment.
There is more to: this than the tests that you mentioned. There a number of labs to consider and there is such a thing as seronegative MG (all labs negative and doubt from everybody). In the cases of seronegative MG, a single finger EMG helps confirm the diagnosis. Not all neurologists are trained in single fiber EMG and the ones that are typically did advanced EMG training. You may have to see a major center. ...Read more
Rec'd Medrol dose pack for asthma flare-up yesterday. Doses (24mg max) seem lower than what I've taken before (40mg prednisone). Is Medrol dose pack sufficient for asthma flare? Traveling soon so want to be sure I get right treatment before leaving.
See below: Medrol is methylprednisolone, which is dosed different than prednisone. It should be sufficient to control an asthma flare. However, it depends on your other meds and how severe the flare is. I would make sure you are doing a peak flow meter daily. Also, have you noticed a decrease in the amount of rescue inhalers you are using since being on the medrol? ...Read more

Ben on prednisone 2 wks. Am puffy and very bloated. Gained 13 pounds. How 2 get rid of this. Very uncomfortable?
I can't get rid of a cough that starts mid chest. I'm taking prednisone & clarithamycin (3 days). Up half the night. How can I get rid of it.?
More information: You may need a chest xray, inhalent, or other breathing treatments as well as antireflux medication. Asthma can be set off by lying flat if you are having reflux. Discuss your diagnosis with your doctor (asthma versus bronchitis versus infection, etc) and that will give you a time line and a game plan. ...Read more
How can i get rid of belly and facial fat from prednisone? Im taking 60mg daily since april and will be on for 6mnths more... Does soccer help?
Only time: Unfortunately, if you are on a high dose of prednisone, and 60 mg/day is indeed a high dose, there is really nothing you can do while you are on the medication to lose the fat. Prednisone has a lot of unpleasant side effects including redistribution of fat, loss of muscle mass, osteoporosis, muscle weakness and more. It will take considerable time off the medication before your appearance is same. ...Read more
Sudden allergy to opiates after tkr. Never had before. Will i now not be able to take them again for pain? On prednisone to try to get rid of itch!
Yes. Don't take agai: If it was established by your physician that you had a true allergic reaction to an opiate, you should not take an opiate again; the severity of the next reaction is not predictable, and could be anything from mild to anaphylaxis. There are other analgesics available and alternate ways to treat moderate to severe pain. ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers

Remedies for a deep congested cough? Went to doctor, had chest X-ray and it was normal. Dr said bad bronchitis. 20mg of prednisone & advair. What else can I do to get rid of this cough?!?!
Cough: If the medications your doctor gave you do help cure the cough, consider other causes for the cough. One of these is gastrointestinal reflux disease (gerd). Gerd can be present without symptoms of heart burn. Speak to your physician (p) about the possibility of your having gerd and your p may consider putting you on a proton pump inhibitor to see if that stops your coughing. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I started prednisone yesterday because of a lung and sinus infection i can't get rid of. But now my legs and arms are very achy is there any relation?
Antibiotic allergy?: I have seen prednisone used to open up the airways and help to breath easier, but it is not known to cause pain. I have seen patients that have joint and muscle pain due to a reaction to antibiotics. Were you prescribed anything else to treat the infection? Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) DS? Levaquin? ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have SLE Lupus and pulmonary fibrosis. Is there a way to get rid of the cough. I use oxygen, take prednisone, cellcept, (mycophenolate mofetil) antimalarial meds.
Could not help much: I am sorry to tell unfortunately ,with the SLE and pulm. fibrosis bec. of the lung scarring you have this cough which couldn't be helped much . Supressing cough with medicines like codeine linctus help in heart failure patients ,but in ur case ,should not precipitate infections by suppressing cough. If you are on medicatio like lisinopril for HTN/kidney dz from lupus , it can also contribute ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I am experiencing swollen tonsils. The following also describe me: Sore throat, Spots on throat, and fatigue. Is prednisone necessary to take, or will clindamycin be sufficient to help get rid of the bacteria?
Viral? rapid strep: If there are "spots' on the throat, it would depend if these were exudates, or white patches, or red spots in the back. Not all pharyngitis is streptococcal; in fact, most of it is viral. Strep throat is characterized by fever, exudative tonsillitis and neck lymphadenopathy in most of the cases. If you are not having these findings, it is likely viral and you can spare the antibiotics. Check. ...Read more
Not sure what u mean: After one day's treatment? That would not cause withdrawal. If steroids are used for more than a couple of weeks, it should always be tapered. Medrol (methylprednisolone) dosepaks are available that actually taper the dose on a very specific schedule, and are often used in people who have to be on a week or 10 days worth of steroids. Talk to whoever was prescribing the Prednisone to you - they can give best advice. ...Read more

It may not work for everyone, so discuss with md. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Maybe nothing: Treatment for pulmonary sarcoidosis in the modern era may involve "watchful waiting" instead of treatment with prednisone, or any other immune-suppressing medication. Treating too early with Prednisone may increase one's chances for recurrent disease, causing docs to wait to treat until there is evidence that the function of a vital organ--lungs, heart, brain, eyes, kidney--has become affected. ...Read more
