Right away.: Effect is with first dose but often it is the people around you who notice first. The dose may need to be increased or medication changed. There is a group of people who do not respond to Ritalin (methylphenidate) but will respond to Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) (amphetamine) related medications. If anxiety is a co-morbidity --that is, if it is associated with ADD, the treatment may decrease your anxiety, since you will complete tasks and perform better with better outcomes.
