Is there any way to reduce flatulence?

Is there any way to reduce flatulence?

Avoid "gassy" foods: Eating a healthy diet can cause gas due to excess fiber. Since humans don't digest the fiber, intestinal bacteria will eat it and make gas as a byproduct. "beano" enzyme may help. Another reason is lactose intolerance, in which one can't digest lactose (milk sugar). "lactaid" tablets help. A third reason is sugar alcohols, like maltitol, that can cause gas. The doctor can look for other causes. ...Read more

Is there a way to reduce really bad flatulence?

Is there a way to reduce really bad flatulence?

Depends on the cause: Some causes of flatulence, such as swallowing air, is only gotten rid of by either changing how we eat to avoid swallowing air, or by passing it. Other causes include lactose intolerance so one must avoid milk products. I have had some success in recommending eating raw, fresh parsley as a means of reducing the flatulence. Parsley pills did not seem to be as effective. "beano" also works. ...Read more

Does making myself defecate reduce the smell of flatulence?

Does making myself defecate reduce the smell of flatulence?

Yes: Having a rectum full of stool just sitting at the anal opening adds to the smell of gas. It is not healthy to keep a rectum full of stool. It is an old wives tale that taking laxaties casues a lazy bowel. It is most healthy to move the bowels once a day with a soft, easy to pass bm. If it takes a "kick in the butt" or a "laxative" , then so be it. ...Read more

Is there an otc pill or supplement you can take to reduce bad smelling gas?

Diet causing gas?: Since we don't digest the fiber we eat, intestinal bacteria will feed on it and make gas as a byproduct. Another reason could be lactose intolerance, in which one can't digest the lactose (milk sugar), so Lactaid tablets can help. Again, bacteria will feed on it. Drinking lactose-free milk and eating less fiber, should decrease gas. Intestinal infections, or using antibiotics, can also cause gas. ...Read more

I'm suffering from gas and constipation .I'm taking omeprazole20mg since 1week.can u please suggest me the diet I can have to reduce my symptom.

See answer: I usually recommend a low-FODMAP diet to track potential food triggers but if you've been on omeprazole for a long time, you might want to see how you do off it as it can cause bloating. Be sure any other medications you may be taking do not cause constipation as well. Hope this helps; feel free to consult us if you have further questions! ...Read more
