Is There Any Other Way To Treat Ovaran Cysts Other Then Birthcontrol Im 23
Yes: Ovarian cysts are normal to have; it's one of these cysts that will rupture to release an egg which is called ovulation. We get concerned if you have too many, too little or if they're solid depending on pt's age. If you are are 23, birth control pills are best, unless they are large or cause significant pain, which in that case, laparoscopic surgery is an option. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I take the birthcontrol amethyst, i never had a problem with my ovarian cysts before taking it.. WHY DO I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THEM NOW!?!?
More info: In general oral contraceptives suppress the formation of new ovarian functional cysts although they do not treat current ones. We would need to know what type of ovarian cyst you are referring to. If referring to polycystic ovaries and not a functional cyst then the conversation is quite different. Schedule a visit with an Obgyn to go over the various possibilities ...Read more

I've had 2 bad right ovarian a cysts in the past 9 months. I've been on birth control for 2. Last cyst was 2.5 months ago. Could I have another?
Maybe but it depends: Your ovaries produce follicles and small cystic structures (usually under 4 cm) regularly which may or may not cause you symptoms and which resolve spontaneously. Oral contraceptive pills prevent ovulation and some follicular and functional cysts but do not prevent other types of ovarian cysts. You need to ask your Gyn what caused your "2 bad right ovarian cysts", what was their size, appearance ...Read more
There's a chance I have an ovarian cyst. I don't know what to do? Im on birth control, could that cause it?
No.: The birth control pill did not cause your ovarian cyst. Simple ovarian cysts are quite common and normal, and oral contraceptives actually decrease the frequency of these cysts. If they become large or rupture, they can be very painful. Follow up with the doctor who made the diagnosis. You will need a pelvic ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis. ...Read more
I'm taking birth control for an ovarian cyst and I'm going back in 4 months to check and see if it's gone. Will it make it go away?
Ovarian Cyst: Ovarian cysts are actually quite common in premenopausal women. (The function of the ovary by nature is to produce cysts each month). BCPs do not make the cysts go away. They prevent ovulation, which allows the ovaries to "rest" while the cyst resolves on its own, and no further ones develop. Should be gone by this time. Good luck! ...Read more
If I'm not on birth control, I get large painful ovarian cysts. My OBGYN says to stay on pill, but is that safe long term? Should I get a 2nd opinion?
Very safe: Birth control pills have lots of non-contraceptive benefits that are seldom discussed. They decrease the risk of anemia and non-cancerous breast lumps as well as the risk of uterine and ovarian cancer and are considered safe until age 35 even in smokers unless you have other risk factors. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Ovarian cyst still present after 3 months of birth control and painful obgyn not doing anything what should i do im worried about my reproductive heal?
Depends: Birth control won't really get rid of ovarian cyst, just prevent follicles or egg cysts from forming. It really depends on if they are complex cysts and the size. If pain isn't tolerable you may need laparoscopy. However, there is always the possibility of complications with surgery. IF all else fails seek a second opinion with another GYN ...Read more
