Its OK: Drinking warm lemon juice would be fine. It can help you absorb iron and may also help with morning sickness. Adding a little ginger will also help with morning sickness. Its really tasty with a tiny bit of honey. ...Read more

I read great benefit of taking diatomaseous earth, 1 tbs mix with water on daily. It's been a month, but I am wondering if this is safe to continue. ?

Why: Are you putting something into your body when you don't know what it is, what it's supposed to do or what harm it could cause. You're old enough to know better. Stop it now. Don't get your medical information from friends, tv or the internet. ...Read more

Is it common after a death of a loved one (spouse) from suicide to continue to have nightmares several months later pop up?

Is it common after a death of a loved one (spouse) from suicide to continue to have nightmares several months later pop up?

GRIEF REACTION: It is a sign of grieving and loss compounded by the traumatic circumstances. Not knowing the details to elaborate, it sounds like a more serious pathological grief reaction with associated ptsd. The nightmares suggest this more complicated situation. Talk to your md and request a referral to a psychiatrist for an evaluation. You need not suffer. I'm sorry for your loss. ...Read more

I have been eating one meal a day for about 8 months and running daily. How can I increase how much eat while continue to lose weight?

I have been eating one meal a day for about 8 months and running daily. How can I increase how much eat while continue to lose weight?

Eat and lose weight: Eating one meal a day will actually make it harder to lose weight. That will actually slow your metabolism down. Eating 3, or even 5 small meals a day is much better believe it or not. You can have 4 small meals/snacks throughout the day and have a high protein & vegetable meal at the end of the day. The frequent meals tends to speed up your metabolism (just don't over eat). Keep up the exercise! ...Read more

I had a irregular cycle so i took clomid100 mg i m ovulated. But after i continue 150 mg so again i will be ovulate or not ? Twice in one month ?

Doctors instructions: Clomid (clomiphene) must be taken in a very specific way to trigger ovulation. Clarify with the doctor giving you the meidcation what dose you should take and what days you should take it. If you ovulated on 100mg it is not likely the doctor would increase you to 150mg. ...Read more

Went from 2 mg a day of Xanax (alprazolam) to 1 mg in a little over a month. I find it easier to split the tablet in half. Take one half in the morning and one early evening. I want to continue tapering down. How can I taper more with a 1mg tablet?

Xanax (alprazolam) taper: EricF ~ this all hinges on how long you have been taking xanax (alprazolam) 2mg and why. If it has been a short period and for minor social anxiety, then you can taper very fast, if at all. So the 1mg can immed go to 0.5mg and then 5-7 days later stop. The longer you have been on it the more fastidious the taper. From what you say I think you can taper quickly, but always discuss with treating physician ...Read more

My 8-month-old just started biting me very hard when i try to nurse him. The pain is too intense to bear. I want to continue nursing but how can i?

Consistent response: Your baby does not know "right or wrong" yet. So as he starts doing something you do not approve of - in this case biting while nursing- you must have a consistent response. Take him off breast for 30-60 seconds while telling him firmly but lovingly "no biting" and repeat that the zillion times it takes him to get the message. (it won't take a zillion, but the message must be every time he bites). ...Read more

Disc herniation L4L5 for 6 months ago. Taking only one 50 mg Voltaren (diclofenac) once a day, gives me a nearly pain free day. How long can I continue taking it?

Voltaren (diclofenac): you can continue for a long time but be aware that these medicines carry risks such as elevating blood pressure, causing fluid retention, potentially damaging kidney, are associated with a marked increase in upper gastrointestinal problems, potentially interfere with other drugs including antiplatelets used for reducing vascular risk etc;ibuprofen is in the same class and should not also be used ...Read more

My doc gave me humira (adalimumab) to take it 2 time a month for one year plus to continue taking methotrexate every week. What are the potential risks of that?

see details: The major risk is infection. Other risks are reduced blood counts, liver inflammation, hair lose (methotrexate), and increased risk of lymphoma. There are other issues as well but the benefits of these meds in preventing joint damage is far greater than the risks of side effects. Btw, it is surprising that your doctor did not explain all of this to you when the meds were first prescribed. ...Read more

Had 3 bug bites 2 months ago. Formed a hard welt on one bite. All 3 continue to really itch. One scabbed. How to get rid of?

Had 3 bug bites 2 months ago. Formed a hard welt on one bite. All 3 continue to really itch. One scabbed. How to get rid of?

But bites: The firm mass at one bite site may be a small blood clot(hematoma) from bleeding under the skin which occurred at the time of the bite. As long as these bite sites are not hot and reddened no secondary infection is likely and you can apply a cortisone type ointment to relieve itching. The hematoma may very slowly resolve. ...Read more

My doctor told me to start taking a baby aspirin daily. However, it's been months since i last took one. Is it ok to continue?

Yes: The Aspirin at a small dose (baby aspirin) has a mild effect on platelets stickiness and decreases their tendency to stick on the walls of a blood vessel and form a clot. The benefit is not one you would be aware of with any symptom. It might help you avoid a heart attack. ...Read more

2 yr old with 5 or 6 tbi past 4 months last one 3wks ago mild to moderate headaches since 3 months continue worried about intracranial hematoma?

2 yr old with 5 or 6 tbi past 4 months last one 3wks ago mild to moderate headaches since 3 months continue worried about intracranial hematoma?

Have it evaluated: It is concerning to have that many tbis in a short period of time. There is a cumulative effect to the tbis so you want to avoid them particularly at an early age. If there are still symptoms, you need to have a physician evaluate. A neurologic evaluation may reveal findings that could suggest increased intracranial pressure. This would then prompt a ct or MRI to better clarify. ...Read more

Had a medication abortion one month ago, now on trinessa (norgestimate and ethinyl estradiol). Should i continue to use condoms or is bc enough? 1 partner. Higher risk of pregnancy now?

Birth Control: Does not protect against std's at all, while condoms do. There are many common std's are there that you can get with only one unprotected exposure--you might have already been exposed during your pregnancy encounter. Best to be safe than sorry until you are ready to commit for good. Hpv can cause cervical cancer, herpes breakouts could happen monthly or rarely but make you contagious forever! ...Read more

If i miss one birth control pill during my month nd continue to have sex are the odds of getting pregnant high?

If i miss one birth control pill during my month nd continue to have sex are the odds of getting pregnant high?

Maybe if low-dose: Most current generation birth control pills are low dose. They are just strong enough to control your hormones when used on schedule. Miss 1 or 2 and you can ovulate. Follow the rules: if you miss one pill take it asap or with the next dose. If you miss two take 2 a day for the next 2 days and then go back to schedule. But only do this once a cycle. If you can't stick to it, use condoms, too. ...Read more
