Is There Any Benefit From Fenugreek Children With Autism
Give it a try: The problem is getting them to actually take it! :-) if you can actually get the kid to ingest it, i recommend a trial of fish oil for most with autism. Although more research is needed, some research suggests modest benefits from fish oil, and no evidence of any harm. In general, fish oil and a multivitamin (+/- iron depending on constipation) are a good idea for most kids with autism. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

Not Really: Many children with autism are picky eaters and have intestinal issues. Nonetheless, supplements are not helpful, expensive, and in some cases unsafe. Stories about improvement after starting a treatment appear to be compelling. However there is a lot of hidden bias in such stories. Fortunately, scientists have developed methods to test whether something really works. No supplements have worked. ...Read moreSee 5 more doctor answers
Does anyone have experience treating bipolar dz with cannabis? For a patient dong well is there any known risk of this treatment course?
No experience: But, this seems like a very bad idea, given the strong relationship between bipolar disorder, substance abuse and addictive disease. As a psychiatrist, I'd use more conventional medical treatment modalities, for safety reasons, and in the patient's best interests. ...Read moreSee 9 more doctor answers

MDS: B12, Folate, (folic acid) Fe: Supplements in MDS is complex and depends on patient blood levels. In general, B12, folate (folic acid), (folic acid) and iron levels should be checked. If B12 or folate (folic acid) levels are low, then these should be replaced because they can help with red blood cell production. Iron can be normal or high in MDS. I generally recommend avoiding iron because many MDS patients can become iron overloaded by blood transfusions. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is there any websites or cartoons that help with child development ? I'm looking for some that help small children learn faster .
No: Babies interact and learn best when they interact with their parents and other people around them. Not multiple media. Involve your baby in your daily activities, keep him around people. Read and sing to him. Take him outside, let him explore with different textures, shapes and colors, encourage explorative behavior. Nothing substitutes the parents! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Are there any herbs that have stimulant effects, for treating a child with attention deficit disorder?
Probably, but why?: Most of the herbal remedies touted for treating adhd have some type of stimulant such as caffeine as the major active ingredient. Studies are scant to nonexistent, and manufacturing of these products are not under fda scrutiny. Caffeine is a weak stimulant with a short half-life, so it may help but probably wll require multiple doses. Prescription products are much better studied and effective. ...Read more
Is there any evidence for success with craniosacral therapy with emotional eating or any other eating disorders?
No...: Emotional eating and eating disorders are attempts to resolve internal conflicts or issues with a behavior. The problem is not in one's brain; it is in one's MIND. Emotional eating and eating disorders are ways of coping with untenable emotions and thoughts; the way to address any form of disordered eating is to identify and process what's eating "at" you, not focusing on what you're eating. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
