Is There A Test To Verify If Someone Has Had Repeated Exposure To Mold
Is there any hiv test that has 100% sensitivity or specificity? I want to know if im a true negative. Or what would be a good series of test to take?
Talk to an ID doctor: Well in life, nothing is absolutely certain. The HIV tests that are out there now are extremely good 99%+. Usually, a doctor has to interpret all the lines of clinical and lab evidence when assessing someone's status. For example, the exposure history is very significant, then combined with physical exam and lab findings. The HIV tests may be repeated up to a point to be absolutely sure. Talk 2 MD ...Read more

Yes but see below:: Several tests are necessary to diagnose rabies before death in humans; no single test is sufficient. Tests are performed on saliva, serum, spinal fluid, and skin biopsies of hair follicles at the nape of the neck. Saliva can be tested by virus isolation or reverse transcription followed by polymerase chain reaction (rt-pcr). Serum and spinal fluid are tested for antibodies to the rabies virus. ...Read more
Is there a specific test that can be run to tell if my high IgE (>770) is a result of mercury toxicity?
Remove the mold!!!: Like with much of what we do we make make various assumptions based upon associations. What can be done is test for presence of mold, test for allergic/ige sensitivity to mold, also for hypersensitivity/igg to mold. Removal of mold is essential and response to this removal can suggest that the mold was responsible. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What is the best hiv test to take if its been about fourteen years from exposure. Just found out about possible exposure. What test would be accurate?
No: Children born with open spina bifida are at increased risk for chiari type 2 due to lower position of posterior brain structures. There may be some increased risk for this problem in some families but there is a nutritional role and other factors also. Adults without any spina bifida history can get chiari type 1. There is no firm genetic pattern that is predictive of the chiari type 1. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I understand that if ITP is suspected then there is an antibody positivity test. Has this test been around for may years and commonly used?
Not by blood test: Migraine is diagnosed clinically--meaning it is diagnosed based on your symptoms/pattern/duration and history etc..Migraine is quite different from other types of headaches and a well-trained physician can make the diagnosis quite reliably. There is currently no blood test or scan that can diagnose migraine at this time. Consult doc. A neurologist may be needed. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Possible exposure to STD if a person was possibly exposed to gonoreaha or clamidia and got treated for it with in 24 hours; will that cure the STD if he / she has been exposed, ?
Most : Most of the time, it will, though if there are any doubts, he/she may want to be retested 7 days after being treated to make sure the infection is definitely gone. We call that a "test of cure". In the mean time, it is important to abstain from sex or use a condom for 7 days after treatment to prevent re-infection. ...Read more

What if a nurse alters the results of your PPD skin test to say zero reaction when there is a reaction? Will you die if you have untreated TB for 15 y
Maybe nothing but...: First, this sounds very unusual. Tell your doctor. Ask it to be repeated & read by the doc or a different nurse. A positive PPD generally indicates you've been exposed to TB but it's usually not an active infection. Because it does become active in about 10% of people, treatment with Isoniazide is advised, but if over 35 usually is not treated due to risk of side effects: http://tinyurl.com/kspxlua ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I have read in medical journals that opiates have been shown to have a negative effect on the bodies ability to produce antibodies. Would this make a person less likely to test positive for a disease using the elisa test if they had to go on opiates?
Not aware: Do you have the reference on the opiate effect since I am not aware of such link. However people may potentially have a depressed immune system when they suffer from a chronic illness or pain. Nonetheless, I don't expect opiate per se to affect testing on antibody either in quantity or quality . ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Is it possible for someone with vulnerable (soft) plaques to have a negative treadmill stress test, but still be in danger?
Yes: It's entirely possible - this is, in fact, the explanation for how someone can have a normal stress test and then have a heart attack hours, days, or weeks later: presumably there is no serious blockage at the moment of the stress test, but they rupture a plaque and occlude the vessel at a later time. This is a sad reality. We have no "crystal balls" to predict the future. ...Read more
