Use fiber: The ideal would be to eat your fiber in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains in your diet, as well as to increase your intake of water to help with constipation. Then using stool softeners daily is fine( must drink water with those). Lots of things..: First, make sure the little guy is getting plenty of water - he should be drinking 30-40 ounces daily if stools are that hard. 8 ounces of it can be juice - apple or prune best if constipated. Make sure not overdoing the milk - 16-20 ounces max for a 1 year old who is constipated. Finally, make sure enough fiber in diet - whole grains, roughage. If need something additionally, MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) is very safe. ...Read more
