Is There A Correlation Between Blood Glucose And Hb A1c
The blood sugar concentration or blood glucose level is the amount of glucose (sugar) present in the blood of a human or animal. The body naturally tightly regulates blood glucose levels as a part of metabolic homeostasis. Glucose is the primary source of energy for the body's cells, and blood lipids (in the form of fats and oils) are primarily ...Read more
My hba1c is 27mmol/mol , what is this converted to a blood glucose reading like on my meter in mmol eg 5.0 etc?
Impaired fasting glu: If these values are consistent, this is called "impaired fasting glucose". It is not quite diabetes, but not quite normal either. People with this have a higher than average tendency to develop diabetes later. Consider it a warning sign to improve diet, weight and physical activity. ...Read more
What to do if I had a fasting blood glucose test and have been told it was high, I now have to have a hba1c on tuesday?
HbA1c: This is a blood test that tells the doctor how well your blood sugar has been controlled over the last 3 months. If you had a high fasting sugar and your A1c is very high then you will know that you have diabetes and it is not well-controlled. If you have a low / normal A1c then you probably just starting to develop diabetes and can treat it with diet and exercise first. ...Read more
What can I do to lower my HbA1C and glucose levels? My last blood test over a year ago shower HbA1C 5.6 and glucose 83.... I still eat lots of sugar!!
What's the concern?: Eating sugar isn't really a factor when blood glucose is being evaluated. Maybe you can get your carbs in some other more wholesome form. Both your HgbA1c and glucose are fine. At age 24, you've got lots more worth your attention than fretting over labs. The key to preventing diabetes long-run -- and a huge help to one's emotions in a cruel world -- is staying aerobically fit. Best wishes. ...Read more
I ate two pounds of red grapes today is that bad? My last blood sugar check was HBA1C of 5.6 and glucose of 83!
Okay: Not a good idea to over do even good food. Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco or alcohol in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read more
Hba1c=6.3%, blood glucose fasting=125.1mg/dl, tsh=6-31ulu/ml. What should I do to save my baby? I am in first trimester pregnancy. Please help.
Metabolic problems: First of all, don't panic. Many women develop sugar problems during pregnancy. Your obstetrician is trained to screen for these and other metabolic disorders that can cause problems during your pregnancy but once identified, you will be advised about how to manage these problems, sometimes using diet alone or with medication. You may also be referred to see an endocrinologist. ...Read more
In my recent blood test my glucose was 204. C-peptide was 0.37 and glutamic acid decarboxylase was >30.0.
Also my hemoglobin A1c was 10.1?
Type I diabetes.: With a hemoglobin A1C so high and I assume a high fasting glucose, unfortunately, it appears that you are diabetic. A high glutamic decarboxylase can mean anti-islet cell of the pancreas antibodies, but can also be elevated in other autoimmune conditions. A lower C-peptide and positive antibodies indicate Type I diabetes. If you are not on insulin yet, please seek help ASAP in the ER. ...Read more

Adrenals: Shaking is low sugar your sugar runs slightly above 100 per hba1c 5.0 =100. So you need to bring down stress via supporting adrenals which can be helped via 5 factors - magnesium, b vitamins, water 1/2 of body weight in oz per day, sleep at least 6-8 hours at night, adaptogen like herbs like adhs (vasopressin) from biotics. Take adhs (vasopressin) 2 pills in morning recheck hba1c in 1 month to show progress. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Unlikely: If both HbA1c and fasting glucose are normal you are most likely fine. Occasionally people are having much higher sugars AFTER they eat (measured 2 hours) and are diabetic without knowing it. This would have been reflected in the A1c though which is why I think you're probably fine! ...Read more

If my fasting glucose is sometimes over 7.0mmol and most days over 6.0mmol.Does that mean I am developing diabetes? Hba1c is 27mmol/mol
Daibetic?: In general, the reference range (that found in healthy persons), of hba 1c is about 20–40 mmol/mol (4–5.9%). At 27 mmol/molm, yours is normal. Do not worry about variations in blood glucose levels, worry about the hba1c level. Reduce any risk factors you may have such as obesity, exercise more and you may not develop diabetes in the future. Good luck. ...Read more

A1c: If Dad is not taking any insulin he is doing just fine. On the assumption that he is not taking and medicine for diabetes he is OK. If he is on medication for diabetes he should slow down his meds by 50%. PS: If anything, Dad is not a "diabetic". That is a silly term. In type 2 diabetes the theme is "I have diabetes" and the end result is "I am going to beat it!" ...Read more
My glucose level is 73 but my hba1c is 7.8 am i diabetic? And what is the fastest way to decrease hba1c due to work requirement. Any food suggestions?
Yes: Hemoglobin a1c is a good measure of diabetes status. A normal reading is around 5. A reading of 7.8 is very abnormal. The good news is you can change that by what you eat - go low carb (search low carb diets on the internet). That number will change slowly though because a1c is a 3 month average of blood sugar levels. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My mean plasma glucose is 111; hba1c is 5.3. My doctor said i don't have diabetes, but isn't my glucose high?
No: A1c between5.7 to 6.5 indicated pre diabetes. > 6.5 indicates diabetes. Having said that diabetes is more like a gradient disease- by that what i mean is with an a1c of 5.3 your risk of diabetes is slightly higher than a person with a1c of 4.8. Life style modifications with diet and exercise will decrease this risk. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
