Would an enlarged spleen or liver increase ESR and CRP levels on blood test? If so- to what levels approximately?

Would an enlarged spleen or liver increase ESR and CRP levels on blood test? If so- to what levels approximately?

Whoa: Elevations in the ESR and CRP are famously nonspecific and are helpful only in zeroing in on already-identified health problems. However, i'm concerned about your enlarged liver and spleen. This will require a proper workup -- it'd be a great shame to miss smoldering hepatitis, wilson's, hemochromatosis, or medication / alcohol effects. ...Read more

Would an enlarged spleen or liver increase ESR and CRP levels on blood test? If so- to what levels approximately? (please a swee question )

Depends on the: Cause of enlargement of the liver or spleen. Both can result in increase in ESR and crp. It is not the enlargement per se but the underlying pathology that increases the serum markers. The more the inflammation, the higher the levels. ...Read more

I tested positive for celiac disease through a blood test but waiting to get my biopsy done, but liver & spleen are enlarged can it be cancer?

I tested positive for celiac disease through a blood test but waiting to get my biopsy done, but liver & spleen are enlarged can it be cancer?

Organomegaly: Celiac disease is not usually associated with enlargement of liver and spleen. While some leukemias/lymphomas might cause this, they are not common in your age group, and might be associated with abnormalities of CBC or other tests. If you have solid anti-gliadin antibody test, then a small bowel biopsy is probably not essential. Fatty liver, cirrhosis, circulatory issues might be worth excluding. ...Read more

What does it mean to have abnormal lymphocytes with prominent nuclei and clumping on film for a blood test. And enlarged spleen. Possible causes?

Many possibilities: Often associated with viral infections such as EBV disease it may also occur with non-infectious inflammatory conditions and with some hematologic malignancies. You do not provide enough info to go further than that, but a good clinical diagnostician should be able to work this out with further testing. Good luck and best wishes. ...Read more

Can enlarged spleen as a child with rocky mountain tick fever and still enlarged spleen as an adult give problems? Blood test showed low neutrophils

Can enlarged spleen as a child with rocky mountain tick fever and still enlarged spleen as an adult give problems? Blood test showed low neutrophils

Need more info: The big spleen from rocky mountain spotted fever as a kid has no effect, but i'm concerned about why your spleen's big now. Arthritis? Gaucher's? Liver disease -- the american lifestyle itself can be sufficient cause. Some folks run low neutrophils in cycles. If absolute count's under 1500, workup's mandatory, much less than that is a danger to life. Glad you're being proactive -- good luck. ...Read more

I was in a car accident. I had chest and stomach pain. X-ray showed inflamed spleen and liver and blood test showed mono. Could accident manifest symptoms not present earlier?

I was in a car accident. I had chest and stomach pain. X-ray showed inflamed spleen and liver and blood test showed mono. Could accident manifest symptoms not present earlier?

No: Sorry to hear of your recent problems. The accident has nothing to do with the viral contagion which has manifested itself as mono. The infection causes swelling of the liver and the spleen, so does abdominal trauma from the accident. You could have have had sub-acute symptoms prior, that is the enlargement symptoms may have been under the radar, and accident has amplified the situation. ...Read more
