Is Taking Three Ritalin Pills A Day Dangerous
Prescription?: Is this a prescription dosage? If so, talk with your doctor regarding side effects and drug interactions. If it is not your dose of medication, then I would advise avoiding taking too much of this medication. There is no "safe" medication -- not even over the counter medications. ...Read more

Doct. Prescribed me luvox (faverin 100) 1 pill 2x daily with ritalin (methylphenidate) 10mg 1 pill 3x daily. Can I develop serotonin syndrome? Is it dangerous? Plz advice
I've been taking 10 mg ritalin (methylphenidate) twice a day for three weeks. I no longer feel the effects. Have I developed a tolerance? Should I ask for ritalin (methylphenidate) xr?
Tolerance OK term: I am glad you use the term tolerance which is a decrease of the effect of the medication over time; the person becomes accustomed to it. It is different from addiction (craving, withdrawal symptoms, chronic compulsive use; and different from physical dependence). A dose of 10 mg of Ritalin (methylphenidate) twice a day is a good therapeutic dose. I do not know why you take it but ask your health provider (nuvigil?). ...Read more
Are 20 mg of ritalin (methylphenidate) ir 3 times a day too much if taking fluvoxamine maleate 100 2 times a day? Is the risk of serotonin syndrome high? Is it dangerous?
Caution: Luvox is anti ocd. Ritalin (methylphenidate) is stimulant that might worsen ocd and in response to such you take more luvox. The concern is yes ssri syndrome (usually it is rare and at higher dosages). All the more concern is you need to check your blood pressure. Once you take ritalin (methylphenidate)... Always check your blood pressure on a daily basis. You need to buy a blood pressure test machine. ...Read more
I have adhd and I'm prescribed 20 mg. Ritalin tablets three times a day, could I get my doctor to change it to 10 mg Ritalin tablets six times a day?
Doesn't work: That way, and it is extremely hard to take any medication 6 times a day, if you feel uncontrolled or uncomfortable with the current dose, your doctor can adjust it for you accordingly, the medicine can be taken twice a day but with a different dose, or may be your doctor would change to another medicine (s) for better control, good luck ...Read more

Don't Bother: Taking 30mg of Ritalin (methylphenidate) will do little except increase your heart rate, elevate your blood pressure, and will not give a "high". Taking these kind of medicines without your physicians approval can be dangerous and should never be done. I list the mild effects, but long term use can lead to paranoid schizophrenic reaction that is very difficult to treat, don't bother trying! ...Read more
If correct dose: If the dose is correct for an individual, the effect will usually begin within 30 to 45 minutes. 10 mg may not be sufficient for an individual, so if you are not achieving a desired effect, speak to your prescriber to adjust the dose. ...Read more
Hi is 99, 20 pound dangerous low if you eating 17 metamina plus 7 ritalin (methylphenidate) everyday?
Can I take ritalin (methylphenidate) 10 mg one in the morning and one at night (7 pm)? Would the night dose be dangerous or cause me problems?
Hard to say: Ritalin (methylphenidate) varies in its effect on people. For some the increase in alertness can make sleep difficult if it is still in your system while some actually sleep better when they take it at bedtime. Every nervous system is somewhat unique and you will need to find how it effects you. At that dose level it will not hurt you to try it that way. ...Read more
Not much: Ritalin, (methylphenidate) the medicine used for ADHD, is surprisingly safe. The main side effect is decreased appetite. Some also report problem with sleep. If dosed too high, some kids develop mood changes and become "zombie-like", but it's not common. Adjusting the dose or switching to another medicine may decrease the side effects. None is really "dangerous". ...Read more
I don't have add, but is it realy dangerous if I take 5-10 mg of ritalin (methylphenidate) during my exams (for like 2-2.5 months) to increase my attention?
Yes dangerous: No doc on this site is going to tell you it's ok to abuse controlled prescription medication. These drugs have potential side effects including ones involving your heart and nervous system. They also have high abuse potential - today you use it for exams, and pretty soon you are using it just to get up in the morning. Don't go down that path and risk serious side effects and addiction. ...Read more

I have arrhythmia, would ritalin (methylphenidate) or dexedrine be dangerous for me to use? Which is safer and in what dosage?
Possibly: Ritalin (methylphenidate) and Dexedrine are stimulants which can aggravate pre-existing arrhythmias. The severity of the adverse effect depends upon the underlying rhythm disorder, and to some extent, the dose of these medications. For some conditions, I recommend avoidance of stimulants in any dose whereas for others I am less strict. You shoul discuss with your doctor. ...Read more

I was wondering if a person who has been on ritalin (methylphenidate) there whole life almost can get suboxone if the drug problem they have is with pain pills?
Can you drink alcohol only once if taking fluvoxamine and methylphenidate (faverin+ritalin) or is it dangerous?
No alcohol on Luvox (fluvoxamine): I suspect in most jurisdictions you are under age and it would be illegal for you to drink. Ritalin (methylphenidate) and alcohol should not be mixed because alcohol raises Ritalin (methylphenidate) levels by 40%, making Ritalin (methylphenidate) toxicity much more likely. Adding alcohol to Luvox can prevent the Luvox from working for up to 72 hours and the result can severe rebound depression or anxiety. Don't drink on this combination. It is not safe. ...Read more
