Is too much vitamin C harmful? I take a 500mg supplement everyday

Is too much vitamin C harmful? I take a 500mg supplement everyday

That's safe: I'm assuming you are otherwise healthy. It is probably not doing you any good or any harm. Very high doses can produce oxalate toxicity and ruin your kidneys. I think every physician here will agree with me that health doesn't come out of a pill bottle. You're in the prime of your manhood -- perhaps you are already undertaking, or considering, a major fitness ccommitment. More good than vitamins. ...Read more

I'm currently taking a daily prenatal vitamin. Is it ok to also take a daily biotin supplement? Thank you!

I'm currently taking a daily prenatal vitamin. Is it ok to also take a daily biotin supplement? Thank you!

So I don't really: know if you are taking prenatal vitamins in case you get pregnant or actually are pregnant. Biotin would be considered safe in pregnancy, but it is best to consult your prenatal physician/midwife before adding any supplement. Biotin/B7 can be found in cauliflower, yeast, egg yolk, avocado, raspberries, salmon, etc--the best sources. Some women feel biotin may prevent postpartum hair loss. ...Read more

I take 50,000 IUs of Vitamin D once a week. Will taking a daily multi-vitamin cause me to be taking in too much Vitamin D?

I take 50,000 IUs of Vitamin D once a week. Will taking a daily multi-vitamin cause me to be taking in too much Vitamin D?

Hardly...: ur multi likely has 400iu - less than 1% of 50,000iu. it wont matter. whats more important to know is that if ur an average size the 50,000 weekly will only get u a level in the 30s. to get closer to a level of 50 u will need at least 5000 iu a day. daily doses yield higher levels with less total dose. ...Read more

My vitamin d level is 29, should I take a supplement and how much per day?

My vitamin d level is 29, should I take a supplement and how much per day?

Probably not needed: The institute of medicine recently did a review of vitamin d needs. They concluded that we probably take more than we need. It is hard to tell from your number just what form of vit d was measured, and what the units are. If you are referring to vit d oh, measured in ng/ml, a level of 20 ng/ml is thought to be adequate. ...Read more

Is it okay to take biotin, iron and a multi vitamin daily?

Yes but why iron?: This is safe in terms of not having excessive doses of any but few men need to take iron- iron is a pro-oxidant.
