Drinking: This is a very general response. First people should be a legal age to drink. If one had a chronic condition and was not symptomatic ; not having a fever , cough or active sore throat the occasional alcoholic beverage would not be of concern. It is not 100%, but still the "standard of care." it is sometime not used because of penicillin allergies or because of younger age (adolescent/teen-more difficult with schedule--school/sports etc) due to required frequency of use --4x/day for 10 days.. Not one I would use: This class of drugs have a broad range of effects against many types of germs but i find no listing for strep throat..It is not used in kids and rarely used in most simple infections. Since strep is universally sensitive to the penicillins, and other inexpensive medications, it is one i would never use for strep throat. ...Read more
