Tested positive with strep throat for 3 time in last two months. I have sore throat symptoms but nothing else. Am I a carrier? Am I contagious everyday?

Tested positive with strep throat for 3 time in last two months. I have sore throat symptoms but nothing else. Am I a carrier? Am I contagious everyday?

Hard to say: We generally reserve the "chronic carrier" label for those who do not get sick with it, although anyone sick with it carries it for a while. You need to investigate whether you are being reinfected by a third party, your old tooth brush, your dog, etc. Some have resistant strep and need 2 stage therapy. Work the specifics out with your doc.

Is strep throat contagious?

Is strep throat contagious?

It can be: This condition is caused by the bug: streptococcus, which can be transmitted via salivary contact. It is not supercontagious like those of chicken-pox or measles which are airborn pathogens--meaning that they can stay in the air and infect others. So, if you are given antibiotics already, you should be fine. Just don't smooch for a few days :-) good luck.

My fiancée had strep throat how contagious is it?

Spread by contact: Strep throat spreads by contact with saliva from the infected person. Avoiding sharing of food or beverages and other close contact until the infected person has been treated with antibiotics for at least 24 hours is wise. If you get a sore throat or fever within a week of contact then call your doctor. Good luck!

Strep throat, when will I no longer be contagious if it's been a week now?

Strep throat, when will I no longer be contagious if it's been a week now?

48 hours: You are not contagious after 48 hours from the start of your antibiotics. In rare instances if you have severe tonsillitis, the contagiousness could last a little longer, or if you develop an abcess. However, you need to finish the full course of antibiotics to prevent recurrences and to prevent development of resistant bacteria in your system.

Hey so I just had strep throat and should I wash all my sheets like are they contagious to my family if they use the same blanket I used when I was sick.

Strep: Strep is fairly contagious generally spread by droplets but can contaminate towels and sheets. Good hygiene is the best prevention so washing sheets and blankets would be prudent

I am a cosmetology master instructor, I have a student w strep throat 31 yrs old her 3rd time with strep throat, fever. How long is she contageous?

She may not be.: Recurrent strep infections can mean the patient is colonized with the bacteria in her throat. You may not be at risk...But good hand washing and wearing gloves can be helpful to avoid infection yourself. If you smoke, stop and she could cover her face with a mask while working. Hope that helps.

What exactly does it mean if someone has all the symptoms of strep throat but they don't have it?

Viral/mono: Perhaps the major cause of throat related symptoms are related to upper respiratory viruses from several families. One of the best known is the eb virus that causes most mono cases. Other rhino, adeno and respiratory viruses are significant causes. If you don't have strep, comfort measures are your main form of treatment along with proper hydration.

Can you have strep throat and have no symptoms?

Can you have strep throat and have no symptoms?

Strep carrier: People who are strep 'carriers' are colonized with the bacteria in their throats and intermittently can be symptom free. People who have recurrent sore throats and positive Rapid Strep swabs might want to be checked for this by having a throat culture performed when no symptoms are present.
