Dr. Alok Agrawal answered:

Is soybean oil the same as soybeans in which it would be bad to eat if you have kidney stones?

See below

Nephrolithiasis
Soya beans are high in protein, which can lead to formation of stones. Soya bean oil is fat and should be ok to take in kidney stones. In general be careful with amount of fats for other health reasons

Are foods cooked in Soybean oil bad for men? I heard soy products are not good for men. Same for soybean oil? Thank you.

Too much is no good

Men
Soy products have been dietary staples in Asia for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Soy can contain compounds that affect thyroid function, and can be mildly estrogenic. Excessive intake, especially of processed soy products, e.g. texturized soy protein, as opposed to natural sources like edamames, tofu, tempeh, could conceivably be a problem; mostly not. Soy oil doesn't have those chemicls

What is "partially hydrogenated soybean oil"?

Hydrogenation

Tryptophan
Soybean oil is too unstable to be used in manufacturing, so companies "hydrogenate" it [forcing hydrogen gas into it at high pressure) to extend its shelf life. Voila -- partially hydrogenated soybean oil. Unfortunately this process also makes trans fats -- not good for your heart or blood vessels. Partially hydrogenated ANYTHING will contain trans fats. http://tinyurl.com/avt7hol

Dr. Simon Kimm answered:

what is hydrogenated soybean oil?

A bad processed fat.

Open-uri20130304-29604-m8u0az
Soybean oil that is hydrogenated is a cheap fat that is often used in processed foods. It is a "highly saturated" fat, which, along with trans fats, are leading culprit in the development of atherosclerosis and heart disease. We all must avoid these oils and use fats such as omega-3 oils found in fish, or olive oil--which has recently been shown to prolong life as part of the Mediterranean diet.

Is soybean oil considered a healthy oil?

No

Toxic_ingestion
Soybean oil is problematic for a couple of reasons. One is that soybean crops are frequently genetically modified, and there may be health risks there. Additionally, most mass-produced soybean oil is partially hydrogenated to increase shelf life . . . and this process also yields trans fats which are unhealthy for you in MANY ways. http://tinyurl.com/avt7hol

Is hydrogenated soybean oil a trans fat?

Depends HOW Done

The vast majority of C-C bonds in all fats are single, AKA saturated (no room for more hydrogen side atoms). If double bonds (unsaturated) present & converted to single bonds by industrial hydrogenation lacking control: ½ cis, ½ trans. All living cells do cis-. See Google images. Plant fats more double bonds & liquid, than animal, more solid, but this Does Not Mean Healthier: Ancel Keys fraudulent
