Is Slim Fast Safe For People With Kidney Problems
Yes, but..: Slim fast has horrible ingredients, and I would not feed it to my dog if I had one. From their website, they list Hydrogenated soybean oil, High Fructose Corn syrup, etc. Soybean oil will make you fat, and so will high fructose corn syrup. I have lots more to say, but 400 words is not enough. Suffice to say, stay away from Slim Fast! Eat whole foods instead. ...Read more

I just saw something on tv from lawyers saying Benicar (olmesartan) causing kidney problems. I been on it 2 years and I am fine. Is it safe to continue it?
Olmesartan: In my mind those lawyers are irresponsible and probably cause more harm than good by creating confusion and doubt. Benicar (olmesartan) (olemsartan) is very safe and well tolerated. As with all meds and everything in life there is a chance of things going wrong. Chance is very low. FDA does not approve unsafe drugs. Docs in general are very prudent prescribers. Do not stop the med. Talk with your doc. ...Read more

How much protein grams / kg of my body mass is it safe to intake over a day, if I weight-lift 4-5 times a week? (to avoid kidney problems etc.)?
1-2 grams/kg: Average would be one gram of protein per kg of body weight. Two would be the upper limit of grams per kg of body weight to take as protein if you want to avoid kidney problems. Always keep yourself well hydrated with at least a gallon of water a day to keep the kidney working and help flush out excess protein. ...Read more
Is metformin ok to take if one has kidney problems. Is it safe to take when cretanine and potassium in blood is high. Thanks?
Not safe for anyone:
I don't think Slim Fast is particularly safe for anyone because it has Splenda and Acesulfane Potassium, chemicals that I consider toxic (though not all Drs. Agree) as well as ingredients from GMO corn, soy and canola oil, all best avoided. See https://tinyurl. Com/y7ltl54g and https://tinyurl. Com/yax8zlom

Actually good: Since fatty meals will make the side effects of orlistat worse (abd pain/cramp, fatty stool, flatulence, nausea/vomittinf), slim fast is quite slim and thus will be better than a double mac with cheese! Xenical really works by teaching how to eat--less fatty/greasy foods. If trouble, consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more
Diet not safe: Its not a good idea to diet while breastfeeding. The baby on its own will be taking in anywhere from an additional 500-1000 calories a day. The first year of infant life is too important for brain development to have you diet while breast feeding. ...Read more
What is good for weight loss... I'm currently taking slim fast shakes and eating no meat for 3 weeks now. Is this safe to do?
It is safe: But what you really need is a well-designed program of diet restriction, education, exercise and weight reduction that you can follow for the rest of your life. How bad are one's kidney problems? Is there a test that tracks how you are improving or worsening?
Yes, the creatinine: Creatinine levels get to the point quickest, they can be used to estimate the glomerular filtration rate. The test for that is called a "creatinine clearance". High creatinines are worse than low, high creatinine clearances are better than low. Tracking these studies over time tracks progress. ...Read more
