I've had headaches while sleeping since having sinus surgery a yr. Ago. Getting up every 2 hrs. Gives me some relief. Why?
Thoughts: Seems to me there may be 2 possibilities. 1) headache is not associated with sinus problem, but may be due to not getting enough oxygen while you are asleep. This can be due to sleep apnea and a sleep study is required to diagnose. Waking will improve oxygenation. 2) sinus issues have returned, but oxygenation still improved upon waking and breathing through mouth. Either way, evaluation needed ...Read more
I have 24/7 headache in forehead. Dr said tension. MRI was clean. I sleep with fan in my face all night. Could it be the cause or making worse?
Persistent headache: Does it occur in cold weather too? Does it go away with tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen? Do you have stuffy nose or nasal allergies? Is your B/P ok, did have an eye exam lately? I don't think the fan has anything to do with it. Try to sleep without the fan one night & see what happens may be it dry your nasal mucosa, use aline nose drops before bed time. If they persisted consult a neurologist. Good luck ...Read more
Wet hair: None of the above - it however may give you a chill due to the wet hair and obviously a wet pillow but should in no way cause you to be dizzy or give you a headache. How can I combat the insomnia which prisitiq is giving me, tolerating pristiq (desvenlafaxine) quite well other than not sleeping much and headaches?
Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) insomnia: The first thing would be to make sure you switch the Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) to the morning. Then you could take trazodone 25-50 mg at bedtime. It is nonaddictive and does not cause weight gain. Make sure you practice good sleep hygiene. You can reference any one of dr. Heidi fowler's posts on this topic. Make sure your BP is not causing headaches. If anxiety is causing neckaches and headaches consider a temporary muscle relaxant or Buspar if it is coming from anxiety. ...Read more
