Is scratching an age spot off bad?

Is scratching an age spot off bad?

Possibly: You may possibly cause scarring by scratching off a lesion. Another problem is if you want to have a definitive diagnosis of whether or not the lesion is a skin cancer, you would need to have the lesion present for the doctor to evaluate and biopsy.

Does Mederma work well on acne scars and age spots?

Mederma won't work: Mederma can be helpful for surgical or traumatic wounds during the healing period. Once scars have matured it is unlikely that mederma will result in any improvement.

Have it removed: This lesion sounds like a pyogenic granuloma, which is a benign growth that is fragile and bleeds easily but won't go away on it's own. It can be removed surgically and generally does not recur.

Lentigines: Lentigines, or liver spots, are benign lesions that occur on the sun-exposed areas of the body. The backs of hands and face are common areas. The lesions tend to increase in number with age, making them common among the middle age and older population. They can vary in size from 0.2 to 2 cm. Treatment is with bleaching creams that have hydroquinone.

Really bad itching in my calves, I scratch but it doesn't go away! Could this be a sign of pregnancy? Also no rashes or spots on my legs anywhere HELP

Not likely: Your history mentions 2 previous births. Circumstances supporting pregnancy, include having sexual intercourse without using birth control, a late or missed period, morning sickness. Itching alone does not have a high association with pregnancy. You can always consult with your OB/GYN if suspecting a pregnancy. Best wishes.

Needs eyes on: This spot could be a number of things such as eczema or ringworm. There are also some other less common explanations. The bottom line is that if you've tried routine topicals such as hydrocortisone and clotrimazole and have not seen change or resolution, you need to have your doctor or a dermatologist take a look at it. And by all means, resist the temptation to scratch till you bleed.

May be: A single 2 mm spot is nothing to be concerned about. If you get multiple ones, first thing to rule out would be bed bugs.

Chiggers: In my experience chigger bites are usually multiple. If you are unsure of the diagnosis a dermatologist is best qualified to evaluate, advise and treat you.

My legs are starting to itch its like a chain reaction when I scratch a certain spot then more spots start to itch?

Release of histamine: When you scratch an itchy spot the area heats up and more histamine is released by mast cells. This histamine then spreads to surrounding areas and cause more itching. Try instead using a cool pack or ice in plastic bag covered with a towel to cool the area.
