Probably useless: There is no evidence that saw palmetto has any beneficial effects on the urinary tract. Was once thought to be beneficial in treating enlarged prostates but double blind trials at numerous us clinics failed to reduce any urinary tract symptoms in > 300 men enrolled in the study. Herbal medicines are often combined, in fact there are many herbal formulas that contain a dozen or more herbs. It is rare for there to be 2 herbs that can not be taken together. If none are found, then one can see a dermatologist, especially one specializing in hair restoration (some treatments: minoxidil, finasteride, hair transplants, . ..). It is not very common, as I have had many patients take this and none have reported this. Saw palmetto interferes with the conversion of testosterone to DHT. Haven't seen evidenc: Saw palmetto is sold to improve symptoms of benign prostate hyperplasia. However, recent review of evidence demonstrates no benefit at even higher than recommended doses. It's not clear how saw palmetto (doesn't) works but it doesn't appear to affect either testosterone or dihydrotestosterone.
