Otc treatments: If son responds well within 72 hours he probably had a viral ailment--if fever breaks, assuming he rests takes otc's for his s/s and he hydrates and eats 3 meals per day. Contagious if someone else in household gets sick--if he maintains fever and worsening of symptoms, get re-eval ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Moms would like that: Don't think so. I think that in order to take down the bad guys you are forced to sit on the carpet or the sofa for long periods of time with exposure to house dust mites or pet dander. You more likely have perennial allergic rhinitis to house dust mites, dog dander or cat dander. ...Read more
If only symptom is blocked nose (70 % of the time) how likely is it to be allergic rhinitis.? no runny nose and itchiness
Sinusitis can...: Perhaps, but it is still likely due to an occlusion of drainage of the sinus. Most sinusitis is not a bacterial infection without signs such as discolored nasal mucous, increasing sinus pain, possibly fever, and usually has been going on for at least a week. Try a nasal steroid spray ...Read more

Most mornings I wake up with a runny nose and very often have nasal congestion. No temperature & I feel fine. No known allergies. Vasomotor rhinitis?
Combination problems: Congestion after lying down is due to dilation of nasal tissues related to gravity. That said, if your septum was straight you probably wouldn't feel congested. Also, most people have at least mild allergies so when you say "no known" do you mean negative tests? It turns our there is a commin condition called "local allergic rhinitis" where the nose is allergic but tests are negative. See an ent. ...Read more

Yes and maybe-----: Hi my dear rhino means nose it is means irritation so rhinitis you have is not b, cause of allergy. It can be because of irritants like, perfume, temp. Sensitive, medications chemicals used in and outside the house irritants have made the turbinates to be swollen. Se an e.N.T doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

All connected: In Chinese medicine, your lungs are connected to your entire respiratory system, including your lungs, your throat, your bronchial tubes, and your nose. So if your lungs are weak in something like asthma it would be likely that you'd also have a runny nose. It means that you need some strengthening of your lungs, and you should probably quit smoking. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Do you have to have runny nose, sneezing etc to have allergic rhinitis I don't have either except for a swollen turbinate & clear fluid in ears.
Rhinitis: Runny nose, sneezing/congestion are the cardinal symptoms of rhinitis, whether allergic or non-allergic. Swollen turbinates and clear fluid in ear (middle ears), are rather signs of inflamed nasal passages affecting middle ears drainage, yes you can have them without the classic symptoms in acute conditions, if long standing, better see an ENT for evaluation, good luck ...Read more
