Side effects of flu shot in infants? Also, would they be contagious? 6mo got flu shot on Friday and has had elevated temp no fever runny nose cough

Unrelated: The child's symptoms are unrelated to the vaccine. It is possible the child came in contact with someone with a cold around that time. The flu vaccine is a dead virus vaccine, does not cause illness, nor is the patient who receives the vaccine contagious. ...Read more

Son14, cough/hacking/runny nose, sore throat, fever vary to 100.6, dr didn't med, rapid strep norm. Is he contagious? How do I know if needs re-eval?

Otc treatments: If son responds well within 72 hours he probably had a viral ailment--if fever breaks, assuming he rests takes otc's for his s/s and he hydrates and eats 3 meals per day. Contagious if someone else in household gets sick--if he maintains fever and worsening of symptoms, get re-eval ...Read more

When I play my ps2, I get a stuffy / runny nose. So is this vasomotor rhinitis?

When I play my ps2, I get a stuffy / runny nose. So is this vasomotor rhinitis?

Moms would like that: Don't think so. I think that in order to take down the bad guys you are forced to sit on the carpet or the sofa for long periods of time with exposure to house dust mites or pet dander. You more likely have perennial allergic rhinitis to house dust mites, dog dander or cat dander. ...Read more

Can allergic rhinitis cause frontal sinus pain? No discolored mucus just clear runny nose

Sinusitis can...: Perhaps, but it is still likely due to an occlusion of drainage of the sinus. Most sinusitis is not a bacterial infection without signs such as discolored nasal mucous, increasing sinus pain, possibly fever, and usually has been going on for at least a week. Sinusitis can still occur from allergies or viral infections, and can present with clear mucus. Try afrin nasal, decongestants. ...Read more

Have nasal congestion, runny nose and sneezing made worse when exposed to low temperature. Nose blocks after sneezing. Do I have nonallergic rhinitis?

Possible: But in my experience, having sneezing spells (especially if you have eye symptoms) points more to allergic than non-allergic. Nonallergic rhinitis is a diagnosis of exclusion also since one needs to prove that allergies do not play a role. You may also have both allergic and non-allergic rhinitis as well. Try a nasal steroid spray ...Read more

Most mornings I wake up with a runny nose and very often have nasal congestion. No temperature & I feel fine. No known allergies. Vasomotor rhinitis?

Combination problems: Congestion after lying down is due to dilation of nasal tissues related to gravity. That said, if your septum was straight you probably wouldn't feel congested. Also, most people have at least mild allergies so when you say "no known" do you mean negative tests? It turns our there is a commin condition called "local allergic rhinitis" where the nose is allergic but tests are negative. See an ent. ...Read more

Is non-allergic rhinitis common in asthma? Cough and mild wheezing are the only symptoms of asthma. No allergies- constant runny nose

All connected: In Chinese medicine, your lungs are connected to your entire respiratory system, including your lungs, your throat, your bronchial tubes, and your nose. So if your lungs are weak in something like asthma it would be likely that you'd also have a runny nose. Rhinitis: Runny nose, sneezing/congestion are the cardinal symptoms of rhinitis, whether allergic or non-allergic. Swollen turbinates and clear fluid in ear (middle ears), are rather signs of inflamed nasal passages affecting middle ears drainage, yes you can have them without the classic symptoms in acute conditions, if long standing, better see an ENT for evaluation, good luck ...Read more
