PPD: Post partum depression is a potentially very dangerous condition, usually transient, but can lead woman to do very harmful things. Please seek professional counseling to evaluate, for your sake as well as your family.

Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

Why do nursing homes use double PPD testing?

Why do nursing homes use double PPD testing?

Older immune system: An elderly person's immune system can sometimes not react very strongly or at all to the first PPD test (even if the patient has been infected with tb) and lead to a false negative result. But the false negative PPD can 'prime' the immune system so that a second test done two weeks later will give a true positive result.

What's a two-step PPD test?

As it says: In some people with previous exposure to tb, especially remotely, an imitial TB skin test (tst) will be negative but a repeat, say 2 weeks later, can be positive. It is sort of like waking up the immune recognition of the bug. But, it is not at all clear that those who are only positive on the two-step tst are at risk for reactivation later as those with a 1-step positive tst.

Please point me to where I can find my PPD record?

There is no: Central repository for ppd records. Try your primary care physician, and if you can recall where you had the ppd performed, call that facility.

Is there an effective way to determine if you are suffering from ppd?

Is there an effective way to determine if you are suffering from ppd?

Not sure if: You can suffer from a ppd. Ppd refers to purified protein derivative and is a screening test for tuberculosis. Either there is a reaction or not. If there is a reaction, classification of positive is dependent upon exposure history and underlying medical conditions. I am not sure that one 'suffers' from a ppd. Administration is not painful.

My son took a PPD test, it showed 十十, wheather my son must took medicine?

Usually: If the ppd test turned negative for the first time, and he was born in this country and didn't receive the BCG vaccination, usually a chest xray is done and then INH is started for 6 months. A blood test quantiferon can also be done.

Who what is positive ppd

Who what is positive ppd

Exposure: It is a sign that you have been exposed to tuberculosis, that you carry the germs for TB in either active or dormant form. Exposure can be recent or very old. People who had vaccination for TB can have a positive PPD in the first few years after receiving the vaccine.

Is red dye 40 related to ppd?

Red Dye #40: & Pervasive Developmental Disorder?? Not sure. Red #40 (Allura Red) is the most frequently used dye. There are concerns that it may be linked to hyperactivity, ADHD & autism spectrum disorders. There is also possibility of hypersensitivity Rxn's. This merits further study.

Post Partum: Depression. Although it may not effect ability to conceive - I would consult with your psychiatrist & gynecologist/ obstetrician for recommendations (i.e. how many times have you experienced it? Severity? psychosis? current state of mental health? Etc).

Until which age can BCG cause fauls positive result on ppd?

Any age: This is infamous -- people who have had bcg vaccine and immigrated to another country may be forced to take TB treatment despite having no symptoms or signs. It's stupid, but that's one common feature of government. If this has happened to you, I'm sorry.

What does it mean if PPD tuberculin skin test came out positive?

What does it mean if PPD tuberculin skin test came out positive?

See below: If your PPD is positive you need a chest x-ray and a screening by your doctor. At your age, if your chest x-ray is normal and you have no risk factors you may not need any treatment. If you have risk factors, treatment of latent TB has become much easier in the last year. If you are determined to have active TB you can be cured with 6 months of TB therapy.
